Anyone out there make their own music? I do, but it's not really with the intent to distribute, more of a passionate hobby of mine. I write a lot of lyrics, and when I've got a guitar around I make a little music, though mostly I sing and rap over songs others produce, since I'm not very talented in the actual making music aspect of it. I can write some damn fine lyrics, though! I'm just curious if I'm the only one who likes to make music or not! Not to mention I'm looking for some nice beats to practice on. >.> Collaborations are lovely!
I like to make beats. Mainly laid back west coast g-funk beats(Warren G, Battlecat, Cold187um type shit). Sometimes I think about wanting to become a producer, but then I say "fuck it". I do it for fun. I like to remix songs and put acapellas over my beats. I want to get a keyboard so I can do more with my beats, keyboards are such an important part of producing.
Yeah, here's my shitspace music page. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=154716787 I produced all the tracks except for track 2 which I only mixed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MfWtUFbIgn0 And this track I produced as well, just some dude I know rapped over it.
Niiiice, dude. This friend of mine would love your shit. He's from Oakland and the stuff on your myspace sounds very similar to the stuff he's always blasting on his cdplayer when he brings me home from school. *L* Maybe it's a Cali thing? I tend to gravitate more towards either Southern Crunk-ish sounds or East Coast shit myself. I like your beats though. Nice and smoove. You got msn or anything? I'd love to talk music with you, and slip you some mp3s, but I ain't about to toss anything out on here in the open. With all the shit I take it'd only get worse if I put my songs out here, I figure. I get tired of haters, man.
Thanks for the feedback. glad ya like it. Yeah, the laid back sound is more of a West Coat, specifically Cali thing. The whole g-funk thing started in LA. There is also Mobb music, which is similar to G-funk but from the bay, and since your friend is from Oakland, he probably likes that good ol' Mobb shit from the bay. :smt020 I only have myspace though, no msn.
I will hit you up on msn, soon, then! Once I get a breather from class (after tonight hopefully!!!! Midterms are killing me!!!!) I think I'm stuck in a writer's block-esque situation, though, because for the past little bit everytime I try to write something I can only get a few lines (or sometimes a verse or two) but never a whole damn song. Frustrating! *L* I was working on one last night that was sounding really damn good, but I got almost through the first verse and lost the flow about three lines away from the spot where the hook should go.
I play guitar, bass & keyboards. The music I create is 99.923% instrumental. I've been told I can sing though I use my voice very rarely. Most of the music that I write can be categorized as rock or hard rock though many other genres (if not all to some extent) have influenced me. I have a digital multitrack recorder at home that I use to 'jot' ideas down and record full songs when inspiration hits. I also have a couple of electric guitars and a bass. I gave away my keyboard to my father when I thought I'd never use it again (inspiration was low at that point) but I'll buy another keyboard one year. Having said that, I wouldn't call myself an aspiring musician for two reasons. I've been playing guitar (my main instrument) for 20 years and I have no desire to play professionally.
Your beats are really good BrothaAjax. As for me, I'm just not musical sadly. I can play a little piano. That's it though!
