Soulthinker....from what you've said on this forum over the time I've been here, you seem to be one of the most informed and widely travelled people I've ever "spoken" to....and it makes me happy to know there are people, not only out there, but in America.

I wish the world had plenty more like you! :) I hope that one day, my cumulative experiences will give me a similar perspective to yourself.

Yes, sadly I feel you are right.

Soulthinker, I have often thought the same as FEHG above. I always look out for your posts because you usually have something considered and interesting to say.

This is one of the most disturbing media issues at present in my opinion. In the US, the mainstream television media simply does not cover world news. Even the reporting on the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan has declined to the point where they are barely even mentioned, and when they are, there is no in depth commentary or detailed analysis of the events unfolding on the ground but rather a bunch of cheap sloganeering about how we need a surfeit of soldiers deployed in some random Middle Eastern country in order to win "the war on terror." Actually, there's barely any "news" at all in the 24 hour news cycle on American television. It's mind boggling how much inane gossip about celebrities and trivial nonsense that has absolutely no bearing on the lives of most people infects the airwaves, and a lot of people gobble it up and actually believe that they are well informed after being exposed to that idiocy. I haven't been able to watch American television news since the lead up to the invasion of Iraq. And don't even get me started on talk radio in this country.

I don't understand why anyone became upset about what was written in this thread. A large number of Americans are in fact incredibly ignorant, and many are brazen, unapologetic types who seem to revel in this state. Very few people in this country actually read anything anymore or give a damn about what's happening in the outside world. It's really a sad state of affairs.

Me and soulthinker have been running battles ever since I joined this forum.

He's been an ass from the first time he noticed me on the board. Believing in the good of others, I mailed him and asked why he was behaving like that, hoping we could settle our differences. He more or less directly answered that he simply just felt like it. Which leads me to believe he's nothing but a pathetic sad little man who got nothing more important going on in his life, than insulting strangers on the internet.

So, until FEGH tells me otherwise, I'll just assume her post to him was sarcastic.
