Tiger has a Learning Center in Cali for less fortunate kids. This was a benefit to raise money for his foundation.
Cheers Mate! I've never understood why many (Not all) African Americans never gave him the respect as per say a Michael Jordan. The bloke is a legend in his own right.
I think most or at least alot of African Americans are proud of what Tiger has accomplished, but don't feel that he plays up his "black side" enough for them. I feel that he should just be allowed to life his life like anyone else irregardless of his racial mix.
Could it be that assumption is getting the best of them? When you look at his upbringing I cannot say it is so surprising he doesn't offer the certain attitude as those who dismiss him would prefer seeing. I would say it is like comparing the The Cosby Show versus Good Times.
The comparison amongst the two (The Cosby Show & Good Times) is having different lifestyles so understanding where each one is coming from is difficult.
I always thought cause golf still sucks...kinda like Lewis Hamilton winning the Formula 1...in the states no one cares. That's just the culture.
I agree, golf DO suck. I always thought that was a prissy man's sport. Maybe when I get older, I'll probably think different but I love the rough sports. Which was why I loved playing football and basketball. "If it ain't rough, it ain't right."
Please distinct the following...you don't like golf or Formula 1 and Hamiltion being the absolute top in Formula 1 and Tiger in golf. These guys rule so don't smear their achievements. Formula 1 does not compare to anything and truly is a world sport apart from the US (like footbal).
While you are entitled to your opinion, golf is known as a "gentleman's game" for very good reasons. A lot of very valuable life lessions can be learned or further engrained by learning how to play well; patience, etiquette, honesty, courtesy, tradition, respect for others. I volunteer teach golf to underpriveleged kids every other weekend and the game allows me to introduce concepts of agriculture, horticulture, basic arithmetic (adding up your score for the little ones) basic geometry, (degrees of loft, angles, wind calculations for the older ones), ect. Its all personal preference, but to me golf is one of the greatest games there is, and Tiger's record to date is nothing short of remarkable and wondrous.
I couldn't agree more. I never realized how in-depth golf really is until I started watching Tiger Woods play.
And that's just it, I've heard more complaints concerning Tiger's "blackness" from upscale black folks than from the Good Times black folks.
