Why is it such a turn off when white girls "act black"?

I take it as an insult as a college educated Black man when acting Black is associated with acting low class. We might have a Black man as president so think about it.

Far as White women acting like they grew up in the ghetto, I can tell when it's FAKE. Also when a Black man moves up in life, the ghetto roll becomes a turn off because we are trying to get away from that life.

I don't see that. Maroon has made thought-provoking posts that have led to some good discussion, IMO.

    Be Authentic

I like the real deal, a woman who is authentic and true to herself. Fakes turn me off.

I know I made a post previously about being sick of these types of "Wigger" girls but that was out of frustration since (other than one time) it seemed they were the ONLY types of white girls I could get some kind of long lasting attention from and my interests go much broader than these types of girls. You can LOVE lasagna, but eat it everyday, you'll be sick of it in a week, trust me.

I'm actually I guess one of the few black guys on here who finds white girls who "act black" VERY VERY attractive. I find ALL kinds of white girls attractive. From european girls with accents to southern girls with accents to your typical new york italian chicks to emo goth rocker chicks with tons of tattoos and piercings to the blonde cheerleader valley girl type to ghetto wigger types. I love 'em all and for very different reasons. They all have something sexy about them.

It's hard for me to tell up front who does it because they wanna be COOL and who does it because that's how they grew up and all they've known is black culture, black friends, and black boyfriends. You have to find out their background first. If they act that way around their family and have Tupac posters on their wall, then it's genuine. If they all of a sudden turn into marcia brady around mom and dad then you know it's an act. But, to be honest neither bothers me. If that's how she grew up, it's not her fault. It's who she is. Same as a black kid who grew up around whites and can't help but "act white". And if she is doing it just to seem "down", I don't mind either since it shows how much she wants to fit in with MY CULTURE and it feels good to know someone else is uncomfortable enough in their own skin to wanna go that length to impress me. Call me what you want but I love that!

I normally don't like the slang and mannerisms of black girls but i cant front...when I see a fly sexy white girl with big hoop earrings, a bangin body, who talks hip hop lingo, has a mean swagger, and knows EVERYTHING about black culture/music/food/slang...it's soo sexy to me. When a white girl goes to such lengths to prove she is down with black culture it's such a turn on to me. She might as well be walking around with a giant "black guys please BANG me" sign on her back LOL. ALOT of black guys who normally wouldn't mess with a white chick go for these types ALOT.

Not somethin' new but always perplexing just the same

In the sixties, I went to a high school that was an anomaly - it was, demographically speaking, 60% Black, 25% jewish, 10% Italian, and 5%other. We had white girls who danced like black girls; white guys who danced like black guys; and vice versa on both counts. There were Black girls who liked White guys; Black guys who liked White girls and, again vice versa. The one thing that none of us put up with were the posers - white guys or girls who tried to act black. At the height of the so-called cultural revolution, there were many interracial relationships and hookups and again there were, at times, the posers - mostly women. Personally, I didn't like it then and I don't like it now. Understand that when I say poser, I am not talking about those who are a product of their natural environment and sound "black"/ ghetto" but, the ones who have never even slept in a ghetto yet sound more like "Lakeisha" than she does herself. Whether boy or girl, man or woman...if they sound like that idiot white boy from "House Guest" and it don't seem real...I ain't feelin' it.

Now, if any of you have been paying any attention to any of my words that I have posted on here then you can feel me when I say it irks me to no end when I here someone that comes off as exaggerated/fake when then open their mouth. Don't get me wrong, there ain't nothing wrong with a "for real white woman" who sounds/speaks "black". What is wrong is when some White girl who has grown up in Shaker Heights (Cleveland, OH); Oakville, ONT; Suffolk County, NY; "The Main Line" of Philadelphia; or someplace like or Manhattan, Kansas opens her mouth and the entire hip-hop ghetto diatribe comes out of her mouth and we both know that the environment which spawns her speech is as foreign to her as the concept of "Welfare Cheese and Powdered Eggs" in a wagon in the middle of the summer. If any of you have ever lived on welfare and lived in the projects...you know of what I speak.

For me, all I am saying is what others have already said, whomever I meet - just be yourself...instead of some ebonics walkin'/talkin' ghetto wannabe.

That may be harsh but it is how I feel.

Y'all be good and take care of yourselves.

When you say act urban do you mean just into hip hop or what?
Because I listen to hip hop (my favourite artists are Mos Def, Talib Kweli n Gang starr, although I listen to everything and I can guarentee I could talk about hip hop for hours) and I collect sneakers but I don't have the "ghetto attitude" or whatever you spoke about, I don't throw gang signs and I don't really dress ghetto and I'm also well spoken.

I dress pretty "normal", although, like I said I do love my sneakers and I wear some urban brands and I act pretty normal also. I don't have an attitude problem. I don't do the whole clicking fingers thing and I don't demend a guy to support me (hell I don't mind paying every once in a while). I did have a rough upbringing to some extent (thanks, Dad :-|) but I don't take that with me.

Just because I really like hip hop I don't class myself as wanting to be black, I don't want to be black. I think it's possible to like a particular genre of music and not want to be black.

I didn't grow up in a very privilidged background and I've never really liked anything apart from hip hop, so am I expected to act like some suburban girl?

I don't really think it's right that being black is associated with that kind of urban attitude/demeenor(sp) you spoke about.

Playing dumb come on tell me what is acting black, Africans are black or do you mean stereotypes of how blacks should act. How do you act? Does Colin Powell act black does Barack act black come on man stop. The only reason I asked why is because folks always assume if some one is acting ignorant and not reading that is how black folks act. It is never associated with a positive.

I view it as a turn off and many others may feel the same way because it's sticks us as a people back into the back of the bus mold by defining the long held misconception held in the black community that to be cool is to be black and to be smart is to be white. Most of these females that act in this manner solidify the attitudes that acting this way means you are cool and black people are cool. It maintains the glass ceiling that you can't be smart but you can be cool. It makes us look stupid! There is a book out there Everything But the Burden: What White People Are Taking From Black Culture by Greg Tate of the Village Voice. This is nothing new every generation has had their wiggers and back when rap was still undeground being a wigger was the kiss of death in white society and now it's socially accceptable with the mainstreaming of rap culture

Brotha you know good and well at least 70% of us fit that bill to a tee. Truth hurts but there it is. Black men are the majority in prison, you don't get there by reading books and talking proper. I'm not making news just reporting it.

Well the stereotype that the person tries to act out is of a black, and since hip-hop and slang and all that other shit is associated with blacks, this is the kind of shit that is described as black or acting black when you take interest in those things or act like it or whatever. I usually asscoiate the kind of music suburban hoodrats and suburban gangstas(assuming they are from the suburbs which a lot of times they are) with anything on the radio. Anything that is "hot". From what I have seen, it is easier to relate and fit in with many kids when you listen to t-pain and lil jon and jeezy, rather than Talib, Gangstarr, PE, etc. Hip-hop culture is the biggest thing right now and many people, like in the 80's during the exploitation and raping of the b-boy hype, are jumpingon the bandwagon. It's like the whole hyphy trend down here in Norther Cali. Before Mac Dre died, NOBODY in sacramento was on hyphy or any other bay area rap for that matter. After he died and people found out he was from nearby Vallejo and he started his label out here in sac, kids jumped on the bandwagon and bought all his shit and shirts n' everything. Kids who didn't listen to rap before, did now, and they started thizzing(popping E pills) and other hyphy related shit. It's all done to be cool.

It's not the dressing in "urban wear" or suddenly listening to hip-hop that I'm tripping about. More power to the person who want s to listen to hip-hop. It's that thug, hoodrat mentality that often comes along with it today. It's a bunch of impressionable kids trying to appeal to their peers, who happen to have the same mentality as them a lot of times.

I have friends who are white and like hip-hop(Big L, Talib, MF Doom, etc.) and don't act like thugs. There are hella other white kids.....fuck....kids of all nationalities in my city, that act out the thug or hoodrat thing.

So with the whole acting black thing, it is mainly associated with hip-hop these days, because it is the most influential culture and the most popular movement today. If there wasn't anything interesting, such as hip-hop culture and music, white girls, as well as anyone else, and they just black folks(the ones who are thugs and hoodrats), they most likely wouldn't even consider "acting" like that.

It reminds me of the tv show Whoopi when her character's brother the conservative dates a WW who talks Black. It does look weird and ridiculous.

I remember that shit! I remember thinking if the guy really was educated and conservative he wouldn't go for a woman like that.

I get what you mean. Well I don't think I am a hoodrat then, lol.

I mean I'd date anyone despite colour really, I mean I have a preference for black guys, not necessarily thug ones though, I would date someone if there was some sort of physical attraction + good conversation.

I don't sleep around, rely on a man to support me, dress like this http://www.hater site.com/wp-content/uploads/random-chick-at-nest-1.jpg lol and like I said have that attitude problem.

I really just listen to hip hop. I'm pretty much an average white girl other than that. It would annoy me to see suburban girls act like that considering that I actually have went through some tough times in my life yet I act normal and don't have that attitude problem.

I don't know any black guys who are really attracted to really urban white girls anyway, so I don't know why you would act like that.

That may apply to women who grew up in the US but when German girls act urban then thats exactly what it is:ACTING. They see all the rap videos and then start dating US soldiers and just try to be urban.

BYT86,has any German girl you know of who acted urban after they left the States as a au-pair,exchange student or a former girlfriend/wife of a soldier?

My former wife was German. I have a friend in the military who is stationed in Iraq and we met through him. When we first began talking she had this impression that I expected that she would talk and act black. We got rid of those ghetto habits QUICK, and underneath the ghetto facade was a wonderful woman.

Frankly, I hate it when black people 'act black'. Considering the general expectation of black culture in America is generally limited to what you'd see in a Tyler Perry movie or rap video.
