Today's White Women Are Unafraid

When i talk to black men of the older generations (from 1960's back) who have experienced Jim Crow first hand i'm amaze of their outlook on the interracial scene today. I wish this forum would have more input from both black men and white women of generations past. The thing that strikes many of these men is how unafraid white women are today of having black men as partners in their lives openly in public. Granted in times past a black man would have been hung just looking at these beautiful ladies, but the fact that so many white women in the past had secret relationships with black men and dared not to be seen in public with them is now the opposite, a testimont to the more liberal times in which we live in today. I see these white females openly pursuing black males regardless what others think which says much in my own mind their independence and courage. Could it be the women's movement that has played a role here in the IR scene we see today? Does economics play a role? Has the Internet technology smashed the social barriers that once exist that now shows people having much in common? I asked my own lady what it was that she saw in me and why she made that first step to me. Her simple answer, "I have the right to be with any man of my choice". I said to her, there was a time that white women who took just a stance found themselves scorned, beaten, raped or murdered. Times have indeed changed. Any black man or white woman out there who would like to tell us what it was like back when it was not the right thing to be together.

The white woman who is unafraid to be at my side has my deepest respect.

I think it's a mix of things, despite what some think I think the media actually hasn't been that open to IR relationships in a main stream sense but still I think due to integrated schools WW/BM BW/WM is really increasing these children grow up together and realize there is no difference

 

I agree but, we have a long way to go in the US.

 

There are plenty of chicks who are still afraid to date outside their race. It's more family pressure than society that drives most of them, from what I've seen. I've had countless friends who were interested in either different races in general, or specific guys, and they decided to not pursue any relationships because of their mom/dad/grandparents.

My friend had a shot with this one black guy at school...He's gorgeous! Seemed quite nice from what I saw of him, too. Such a gentleman, good head on his shoulders, intelligent, and a billion other good qualities. But she wouldn't do more than vaguely entertain the idea of accepting his offer of a date. When I asked her why, she explained that her grandparents would disown her.

My own family doesn't much like me dating black guys, but I don't really care. And they know it. So they grit their teeth and deal with it.

 

Old Black men are some of the most openly racist people ive come across lol

Elklodge, i think you hit the nail on the head. The media and especially Hollywood does not put much into serious interracial stories, especially when it deals with the dynamics of BM/WW relationships.

Soulthinker, i think you are right despite all of the other interracial combinations that abound around us, the BM/WW will take a bit longer to be accepted than all the others. If ever.

Malikom, i can agree to some extent on what you stated, look at the times in which these men lived. They saw first hand or heard horrendous injustice that was commited at black males. That Emmett Till story resonates strong with most i have talked to and the history of lynchings, castrations and beatings that is burned in the minds of many of these men. Imagine the fear these men must have lived under in just looking at a white woman in those days. Imagine a black male who is the sexual interest of a white female in those times. It would be a death sentence for him.

 

Very, very good point. It was the white woman that 14 year old Emmit Till whistled at that got him killed.
