Just wondering how many people liked to play music sometime in their life. I used to play the Trombone back in 4th grade and then the drums from 5th to 7th. Damn I wish I still played, but I stopped when I changed schools. I just make beats, but a beat making program isn't much of an instrument. I wanna learn to play the keyboard though. Anyone else? What do you play, or used to play? Sorry if I posted in the wrong section, but it does say "Music".
I play guitar and piano. I don't play the guitar much anymore but I recently bought an electric piano and play daily.
I used to play the saxophone. Until I was 16/17. Then I got too busy with boys to practice, so I sold the sax. Kind of regret that. I recently bought a small recorder flute that I use to play for my son.
I used to play the flute and piccolo and drums in school. I also taught myself how to play piano. My parents had a piano, though I never took lessons. One day I decided that I was going to learn it, so I took the books from when my older sisters learned to play, and taught myself. I've always wanted to learn to play violin. I don't know why. No time like the present, right?
I've played violin and piano since I was about two and a half years old...which means I've been playing for almost 28 years. I was trained classically through the Suzuki music school, spent a while playing semi-professionally in high school and college, and then pretty much gave it up for about 7 years while I was married. I picked up the flute and bassoon in high school because I was bored, still play the flute occassionally but haven't touched a basson since my high school graduation ceremony. Music is an intregal part of my life again, and I'm loving it. I'm teaching (Hey bookworm, too bad you aren't near me!) again, but only a select few at my discretion, and I've been recording some fiddle tracks for a friend of mine who's trying to breakthrough the songwriting world of Nashville. Mainly, I play piano for my church every Sunday, and I do two recitals a year to raise money for a missions organization that assists villages in third world countries become self sufficient. I sorta sing too, but that's just more like a hobby!
I can certainly be done. I had less than a year of guitar lessons and mostly taught myself what I know through lesson books. I had 9 years of piano lessons and don't regret that at all though while I was a child I hated it. LOL Now I'm ever so thankful for the hours of lessons, practices and performances that I once felt so forced to do. I can't imagine my life without the ability to play music.
Taught yourself with less that a year? That's cool. I'm guessing it's not hella late to pick up an instrument again. It's just easier when you're a kid, especially when you're forced to.
I produce music. Hip Hop/RnB/Dance/Pop. I messed with the drums for a while and now I play my keyboard and produce on the workstation(Roland Fantom X6).
Uhm, I started messing with it in 02' and became very serious in 05'. If all goes as planned you will be able to purchase my music at your local Target/Best Buy/Circuit City within the next 6 months.
Good shit. You got a preview of your production I can hear? You produce for other people or yourself mostly?
Other people. Someday I will feature myself on a track w/ an artist. I'm just not focused on that aspect as of now. Yeah, I can upload some songs onto a site, give me some time and I'll have some songs up there.
I pretend to play guitar, though I'm not very good at it due to not having an instrument to practice on. I can play chopsticks on a piano! Main instrument I use is my voice. Now that's one thing I certainly know how to work with. I've been singing since I was a kid. Mom says she used to catch me humming along with the radio before I could form real words. I've tried countless times to get together with people to work on music with me, but all my attempts have failed. So I just write my own songs. I've got a couple of folksy ones I play on guitar (really simple stuff, since I'm not very good) and a few I've put with music I've found on newgrounds. Mostly I'm just good at coming up with melodies and lyrics. And karaoke. I'm the karaoke queen!!! Cause I don't suck at it like most people who do it when they get drunk. *L* Me singing = lots of free drinks This old dude at the bar last week felt he needed to tell me that I reminded him of Judy Garland. haha. He was actually nice, too, not creepy like most old dudes that hang out at bars. He complimented me so much I think my face was as red as my hair. Music ftw, though. Music is as important to me as my art...hell, it's an extension of it. I'd love to figure out a way to incorporate music into my pieces. I think it'd be interesting to have a little set up in a gallery with either sound clips or songs playing to accompany visual works. Though it'd be difdicult to pull off since so many different sounds would mingle with each other and make annoying noise. http://ksolo.myspace.com/actions/showSongProfile.do?rid=556393&sid=25323&uid=951236 It's nowhere near perfect, but I've been so congested and sick lately. I've been off key in like..all the damn songs I recorded lately. *L* Not to mention my mic sucks! haha. Close enough, though! I can't wait til I get all cleared up so I can go back and fix all my karaoke songs.
I play pretty much anything with keys (Piano, keyboards, organ) as well as drums, and I also can sing very well. I used to rap when I was a teenager but gave that up when I turned 21
Very funny, young one. Oh WAIT, that's right....you have a few years on me don't you?!?!?! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
