A Black man Begging McCain

Regarding Obama. I support him because he is the first Black Presidential candidate. That's enough for me. People supported Bush despite all of his empty promises, lies, and poor judgments. After 8 years of Republican madness and corruption, I think most of us are ready for something new and exciting. This is already a historic event for America and a potential turning point for the Black race. In my mind, not supporting Obama, as another Black man, would be the ultimate act of racial self-hatred and ignorance. I understand where the "slave mentality" comes from and how its been used, for centuries, to keep us conflicted and confused, and I shouldn't be surprised to see it on these boards, buts its still sad to witness.

People vote based on emotion, not logic. The country was angry and scared after 9/11 so Bush was able to ride that wave of sentiment for 8 years by promising revenge, justice, safety, and strength. Well, what did we really get? We got a crippled economy, a costly war that most American's realize we should have never started, disintegrating foreign policy, and corporate corruption on a scale not seen since the Industrial Revolution.

Now American's are tired, beaten, and disgusted so they want light and hope, both of which Obama says he can give us. The Republicans had 8 years and in that time they did little more than set our country back a decade or two in almost every area of national concern, from environmental protection policy to medical research and development. McCain and Palin are half-wits, out of touch with the real heart of America, and offering nothing more than poorly disguised Bush policy as something new and exciting. I think, finally, people are seeing through the haze, coming out of their primal "fight or flight" response that made Bush's promises of righteous war, revenge, and national security so wildly intoxicating, and starting to once again feel the true pulse of what it means, what its supposed to mean, to be a real American. That's why Obama should win; not because he can give us back hope and happiness, but because he can give us back the pride and honor it means to call ourselves American.

So because some white nationalists supported Ron Paul. that makes him a white nationalist? Does that mean that because some radical Palestinian groups have expressed support for Obama, that makes him a terrorist sympathizer? Does it also mean that he supports the actions of Bill Ayers, who was a member of a radical terrorist group in the 70s, because they were on the same charitable board? Ayers also gave money to Obama's Illinois state Senate campaign

    See where this is going?

So basically, you're making Obama an Affirmative Action President. Oookaaay! [IMG]
And perhaps in other's minds, your supporting of a candidate simply based on race, and NOT his position, may be considered closed minded, and tunnel visioned, not to mention your apparent display of lacking intelligent thought.
    Check,
A politician is a politician, so don't believe any of the hype. There will be no messiah in Obama, McCain, or any other politician. Come back to reality bra.
    Check,
What proof do you have that he will accomplish this?

This is not my attempt to show my support for any particular candidate, for my preference lays with neither, but this is my attempt to poke holes in your most ignorant statements.

I can respect someone who believes in their candidate. You support Sen. Obama because you like his policies. That's the paramount reason why one should support a particular candidate. And you are right about how blacks are supposed to vote and who they're supposed to believe in. Why does a black person have to vote for only one party? Are we not, like everyone else, individuals? Can't Mr. Harris like McCain because he, just maybe, agrees with his policies:smt102?

Selah! And thank you for the warm welcome, Karmacoma.

    Selah! Obama/Biden 2008.

You Black Men (probably WM Trolls pretending to be BM...hopefully?) can spout your rhetoric all you want...but at the end of the day you and I both know you are nothing more than another victim of "slave mentality" who hopes that your self-hatred will somehow prove you should be allowed in the Master's house to sit at his table. You're sad and I feel sorry for how many of you types of BM (again, please God, let him actually just be a WM Troll...) have been lost, have forgotten the faces of your Fathers and Grandfathers, and who have put down your fist in favor of a laptop and a cappuccino. Sellout is an ignorant word and I won't use it; but misguided, blinded, and lost are just as applicable.

The point is, Brother, no politician is a Messiah. Granted. Because all politicians are men and man is flawed. That is truth and we understand that. But, if you know your history, you should also be aware of how many Blacks AND Whites struggled and bled and died so that, one day, we could live in a country where a Black man could even vote much less be a senator and much less run for President of the United States. Your intelligence is gilded ignorance, your independence is won on the graves of your ancestors, and you've forgotten the face of your Fathers.

"You there... Ephialtes... May you live forever."

Co-sign. If anything it was a straight bitch-move by James T. Harris to do what he did. When you go out of your way to publicly kiss another man's ass, that in my opinion is unforgivable.

    Sell-out- NO

    Punk-ass bitch- YES

The difference between a sell-out and a punk-ass bitch is like the difference between "strategy" and "tactics"...it's SEMANTICS. Call the shit what it is, a sell-out move. Period.

Now Karma you my main man, and I definitely respect your views on many, if not most of your posts, but I'm sorry bra, the burdon of proof lays squarely on the OP, you know, the one who's claiming Obama will bring about all this change. It's not up to me to prove Obama will fail, heck, I don't even want him to, but I am at liberty to sit back, and see if this so-called "change" will truly come about, and what will be it's effects on me. It is my perogative to be a skeptic. I'm not an 80's baby, and my experience has allowed me to not believe everything a politician says, be it a black one, or a white one.

    Respectfully,

So you're a major in sociology, minor in psychology, with a touch of paranormal mind reading, because you know exactly who we are, and what we're all about.. Riiiight!!!
Yes Yes, pray for us oh mighty one. What is it you're praying for again? That we're WM trolls, or Black men who have lost their way. Which one is it? lol.

That's your point! My point is, I want what's best for me, and I don't care if Obama is black, white, or purple haze moon beam psychedelic, if he plans on taxing me to death, then I will not want to see him in office. Period!

Sorry dude, your all of 5 posts hardly qualify you to assume I, or anyone else here would be a troll, white dude, or whatever the fuck. Simply because I/we do not share your political views. Grow up, and get more posts under your belt, before you try and step to anyone with bogus accusations. If anything, I could say you sound like one of those militant kill whitey types, but hey, to each his own, however I'd be hard pressed to understand why you'de be on a forum that is primarily for white women, and black men having dialogue, if you're so militant. You'de be better suited in the Assata Speaks Forum. Hint, Hint! But that's just me. So don't get upset because you can't have it all the way you want it. You put your opinions out there, for all to see, and reply to, so I happen to disagree, and voiced it. Too bad! That doesn't qualify anyone to be a troll on a public message board, where not everyone is supposed to agree with you. Grow up son.

Interestingly enough, you are the one who has taken a tone of ridicule and derision in this conversation, which usually indicates a lack of intelligent argument that can be offered in response. Regardless of your accusations, your ridicule, or your need for attention, you are still just a slave with a slave mentality. I am not a "Kill Whitey" type and that comment proves how incredibly ignorant you are, considering that none of my post had anything to do with aggression or hatred. I understand your embarrassment and need to lash out against the points I made; its a shame you are so separated from your own mind and spirit as to be able to offer some intelligent response beyond childish name-calling and finger-pointing. If that's really all you have, then I feel sorry for you. But, I won't respond to any more of your posts unless you show some intelligence or self-awareness in your responses. Otherwise, please continue with your antics.

Don't feel sorry for me bra, I think I've managed to do pretty well for myself, all things considered, and that's why I have the P.O.V. that I do. Until you earn a decent living for yourself, and gain a certain amount of success, then I guess you really have nothing to lose, heck, it's probably NOT your tax bracket that will be facing a Democratic extortion, now is it. So until you work 20 years, and provide what you hope is a stable life for yourself, and your family, then have someone, or anyone tell you that because you acheived a certain wealth, that we, the government has a right to take up to 50% of that which you've worked hard for, then I guess you won't have a clue. Until you own Real Property that can be taxed to infinity, then I guess you have no clue. Until you own a small business that can be taxed until you're forced to close the doors in the very community that you serve, then I guess you have no clue. Yeah, meet ya in the real world, and not the world of those with nothing to lose.

    Take care.

Actually you are right. It is ignorant for me to attack someone over there beliefs. So I cry your pardon, sai. Being hostile about it does not do anything but spread more anger and confusion, and that is really not my intent. Like most people, I feel passionately about some things, and race is among them. So, I stand humbled and you are correct: we are all entitled to our opinion. Lets not have a spirit of trouble between us. :smt023

I too may stand corrected, and at the very least, must be reasonable, and own up to my part in our little disagreement. I do not wish to continue to cultivate animosity between us my brother, and do respect your opinion, and most certainly admire your ability to shall I say it, be willing to bury the hatchet. Because at the end of the day, we are all still brothers. So please accept my apologies as well. And Welcome. :D

There wouldn't have been much of a difference. Government spending has increased every year in the Bush presidency, and I'm not just talking about defense spending. That there shows you that they're not too far apart on the role of government (despite Bush's rhetoric). Maybe Gore wouldn't have went into Iraq on false pretences, but during the Clinton administration, which Gore was VP, on at least two occasions, the US initiated air strikes against Iraq, and Clinton/Gore were keeping the sanctions on Iraq intact and enforcing the no-fly zone there. Also, Somalia, Haiti, and Bosnia/Kosovo were invaded (None of those nations harmed us in any way, just like Iraq didn't) and Afganistan and Sudan were bombed. So it seems that they didn't mind using force against other nations any more than Bush does

A Gore presidency wouldn't have been any better than what Bush's presidency has been

A Ron Paul presidency would be a helluva lot better, in my opinion, than anyone we've had in a long time

Lebba & Rinnaye thank you for agreeing to disagree, too often shit like this turns into unecessary flame throwing. Now getting back to the topic of the thread

I also do not have any issues with those that support McCain or Republicans, I don't understand why they do given their history towards black people and their general perceptions that you could apply to all ethnicities. Mr. Harris's praise though comes off as a man crush, to McCain's credit he thanked him and moved on, but Harris's hard on for McCain makes me wanna.....
