The biggest issue with AI when it comes to the entertainment & artistic side of things is not the technology itself but the non creative individuals in that space using & abusing the technology. The truly creative individuals will use it as just the tool that it is to create whatever art they produce. Non creative people will misuse it all in the name of making money.

That's the problem; artists aren't making money. A whole class of middle and working class artists are being wiped out because streaming doesn't pay artists fairly. Basically, for the streaming business plan to work, artist must take a huge pay cut. Which, has a big ripple effect across the creative industry. It's the same for actors, writers, etc ... we're all being hit hard. And, it's not technically the technology. It's the way it's being monetized. Offering all you can eat music or video for $25/month isn't enough. The artists don't see much of that, if any, at all. I could go on about this all day. But, Hollywood is looking at AI and seeing what happened to the music buisness and they're rightfully worried. When it was iTunes, and you still bought what you listened to, things were fine. But, streaming? There's just not that much money for the people who are actually creating the art. Unless, you hit big.

But, you're right; no sense in fighting it. Learn to use it. I haven't incorporated it into what I do beyond some visuals. But, I'm not against it. I do use it for technical stuff. Helping me diagnose issues with my computer and planning things.

The entertainment industry is already cooked even without AI being thrown into the mix. Look no further than basic TV entertainment. Both network & cable TV stations are moving more & more towards "reality" based TV shows. They no longer want to financially invest into the production of scripted episodic drama, action or comedy series/shows on any level. And we aren't even going to go into how much network, cable & local news has been totally compromised due to owners desire for profit above everything else.

    M1: Monster League

Artist Jae Lee and colorist June Chung have joined forces with writers Robert and Lily Windom on M1: Monster League, a new comic that is already in the works to become an animated series. At the same time, Image Comics is introducing M1: Monster Racing, a sci-fi story centered on 17-year-old Dev as she makes her way through Tokyo’s hidden street racing scene.

The first issue will be released on June 10, 2026, with a main cover, a 1:25 incentive cover, and a 1:50 black and white cover by Lee.

Ernie stay on Rob's head. ...lol

I had no idea the Antagonists' creator was MAGA.

I had no idea about either the comic or the creator. The thumbnails for both videos Rob did about the comic however tangentially did show up in my Youtube algorithm. I never clicked on either one but did think "hmm" when I saw them. Ernie's video showing up was an aha moment for my "hmm".

I have the first issue of the comic. I thought it was a good first issue. However, it was a while before the second issue came out and I lost track of it. To. be fair, I didn't see anything MAGA or conservative about it. It seemed very black point of view centered. But, maybe that changed as the run went on.

The only thing that gives me pause about this whole thing is Ernie tasked Rob with reviewing black indy comics. So, Rob did that. But, because it wasn't the kind of black comic he likes, it's not good enough. I don't disagree with Ernie. But, it looks like he fell into a trap. Now, Rob gets to go in front of those sympathetic to his side and say, "Look! I did what the left wanted me to do. I favorably reviewed black indy comic and it wasn't good enough! They moved the goal post! Etc, ..." That's a win for the right because it converts low knowledge people, who were on the fence, to their side. And, like it or not, we're going to need those people to undo the damage MAGA has done. That's a problem with our side. We're good at winning battles. But, we're awesome at losing wars. There was a way to get at Rob about him highlighting a MAGA publisher. I just don't think this was the way to do it.

The problem with that is it's not going to help with fixing the overall problem. Fence sitters will always be fence sitters. Just because they jump to our side of the fence for this particular situation doesn't mean they will stay here. They were sitting on the fence for a reason. Usually because they don't actually have any real stances, convictions or views for themselves. They align with whomever they think is winning whether right or wrong. Personally I'm not interested in winning over anyone who isn't already leaning towards or firmly on our side.
