I'm think of writing a novel with with a BM/WW relationship as a part of the story but not the main theme, at least for one of them, if you get what I'm saying. I have a few genres and ideas in mind and have thought up some good ideas. I came up with these ideas because they are ones that I normally don't see when it comes to books with that this kind of relationship and here they are.

Novel idea 1: A crime/femme fatale thriller about a BM lawyer who becomes sexually involved with the White wife one of the major partners of his law firm and when her husband is mysteriously killed he begins to suspect that she's involved when he discovers how dangerous she truly is.

Novel idea 2: A crime thriller about a WW police detective and BM bounty hunter who are both forced to work together and trust each other, falling in love in the process, when an major crime organization sends hitmen to kill them. This is after they both discover various cirminals they have arrested and apprehended are connected to said organization and want them dead because they vital information that could shut them down for good.

Novel idea 3: A romantic comedy/social novel about a May/December relationship where young successful BM (late 20s) starts a relationship with an older divorced WW (40s). After both having doubts about each other they agree to meet and go on a date only to find out they more in common they ever though possible and fall in love. Despite them their loving relationship, they still have to deal with negative stereotypes, prejudices, racism, classism and even ageism from mostly from her family and social circle, while he himself has to deal jokes and ridicule from his family and friends.

Like I said, these are just ideas and brainstorming for now. Let me know which ones you'd like to as a novel, If you like them that is.

Thanks for the feedback. That idea has so many dimensions to it and I've always wanted to experiment with social theme writing.

These all sound fun but option 2 works best for me.

I do too when they're done well and actually good. Ithink the idea I have for mine would make for a great one.

I like 2 and 3. You have a very good idealism on stories.

Thanks. All three are ideas are stories I'd like to write, I just need to figure which one first.

I do like #2 the best but maybe with a little twist. The BM would be a detective investigating a crime and the WW would be someone who was a witness to it. That is how they first meet and then eventually it builds from there

I thought about that at first but then I thought it would make her too much of a "damsel in distress", so changed it to where they both would be strong to fight for themselves watch and defend each other given the situation they're in.

oh yeah that makes sense. Even if a witness she wouldn’t have to be in distress, just someone who wanted justice and wanted to help you achieve it however little help she could be

All these ideas are pretty good. If I were to rank them in preference from most to least I'd say 2, 3, 1.

Thanks. From what I've gathered so far most people love Idea 2 the most, but tbh, I think it would take the longest for me to write as a full novel versus the other two ideas. The reason for that is because it would have to have a lot of characters, storylines and details to make it cohesive.

I think what I like best about 2 is that I haven't seen too many stories like it in publication. The other two ideas I've seen variants of, especially the black man/white wife affair of 1. I feel that has been done to death (and IMHO demeans BM/WW relationships in general - not saying you can't do a good story of it, just that it would interest me the least for that reason).

But number 2 intrigues me the most, and if you are so inclined, you can set it in a sci-fi or fantasy element. (Nothing wrong with a good science fiction or fantasy romp I say ;) )

Still this is your story. Looking forward to finding out which direction you take it.

I get what you mean and the first idea has done but a lot but very poorly IMO. That's why my idea was going to have twist to it unlike typical stories like it. My third idea hasn't been done at all because of how unusual it sounds with an older WW and younger BM, which is why I wanted it to be sort of lighthearted and humorous. I 've only seen one movie that had the same theme to it, but it was very superficial and didn't explore any of the underlying themes I wanted to explore with my idea.

When it comes my 2nd idea, I wanted to keep it a grounded crime thriller but I wouldn't rule a sci fi or even horror idea similar to it in the future.

#2 def seems like the fan favorite and I agree.
(For me) #1 seems like not a happy ending for the couple but her ultimately not being guilty could have them ending happily together while also creating conflict between them for a time where they end up working together and restoring their romance. This could even carryover into a second book if thr husband's murder is not resolved in one.
#3 feels like the norm to me: Bed Stuy by Jerry McGill (haven't read) and Just Like You by Nick Hornby (read it, pleasantly surprised by how good this was). Also projection on my part tho, not seeing myself with an older woman. So don't let me stop you, we'll take all three pls! :)

Is there a thread for wwbm in books, like the TV and movies threads? The streets needs that lol.

I fantasize about creating what I wanna see: dope, well-crafted black heroes (fucking rare), with all the combos of smart and beautiful heroines. Most books with wwbm pairing just arent good enough for me at this point. Poorly written, written like ir literotica with more sex than char development, or just dated which usually includes horrible stereotypes. But then I'd have to learn how to write a fucking book so maybe I shouldn't complain lol.
