There is also a British series that is goes by roughly the same name with a similar premise one of the stars is the guy that played Dean in the Harry Potter series. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt27369122/
So let me review Babes... Spoiler: It is amazing the scenario that allows ppl to get together so after going to the hospital with her pregnant friend, she leaves to but sushi. The hospital wont let her back in because shes not family. She takes the train back home with the sushi where she meets dude who has a similar route home (Astoria) they hook up over Street fighter, sushi, and they go to the same std prevention clinic or whatever. they spend the night and morning having unprotected sex because she believes you can get preg on ya period.... later she complains about dude ghosting her so she goes to the clinic to learn his identity. They tell her dude died choking on an almond. They rest of the movie is her having the baby by herself and her relationship with her best friend. Dude parents were already dead so they are not a factor. Her friend did check her for saying she was having a black kid to having a half black kid. Friend appears to be half black half white married to an Indian. I enjoyed it enough, I like Ilana Glazer
There is a trailer for season two of "The Serpent Queen" that I just saw last night. The new season on Starz begins Friday and they have retconned in some way to include Queen Catherine de Medici's Black brother into the show now. Ashley Thomas who played the father and husband of the Afro-American family from season one of "Them" on Prime Video will play the Duke of Penne and Florence ~ Alessandro de Medici. He is in every episode and will play the object of desire which is true to historical form. He has wealth, political connections via the Holy See and he has military command of two Italian City-States. I don't have time right now to post the links or pictures as I have to go back to work right after lunch. I am interested in how they pull this off . . . because he has been virtually ignored and omitted by historical television dramas repeatedly on other series like "Reign" of CW and even season one of "The Serpent Queen". Alessandro de Medici was her bastard brother but he was the ONLY sibling she ever had and they knew each other as children particularly when their family was in danger of being wiped out by Italian mercenaries and had to be rescued by his "father" the Holy See and the Vatican Guard.
There's a movie on Tubi titled Spread starring Elizabeth Gillies. I watched the trailer, and there's a Black guy in it. Immediately I suspected (hoped, even) Liz's character and the Black guy would hook up. Looks like they do (skip to 3:55 in the video below).
I watched Spread last night. I thought it was a good movie. And yes, Liz and her love interest have mad chemistry throughout. This is what I like to see: attraction, connection, and relationship, and not some porny nonsense or anything like that.
Netflix's Uglies Synopsis: In a future where getting cosmetic surgery at 16 is the norm, Tally (Joey King) is super excited to finally be part of the crowd. However, when a friend decides to escape, Tally takes off on an adventure to find her, which flips her whole world upside down. Keith Powers plays David her love interest. Uglies is based on the 2005 dystopian novel by Scott Westerfeld.
I'm not very familiar with Joey King. Is she well known. Does anyone know what movie or series she is popular for?
She has done some YA movies about the usual sexual coming of age stuff which incorporate comedic moments. She's on Netflix, Amazon and Tubi. The biggest movie that I am familiar with her was "The Conjuring" but she headlined Netflix's "The Kissing Booth" series of movies and "Summer '03". Hulu original movie "The Princess" was a well received medieval fantasy she headlined in 2022 if you care to check it out.
Things done changed, if I go back 15 years I couldn't have imagined all the BM/WW interracial there would be in movies and on TV. At this point i'm not surprised when any White actress has a Black love interest. It's common now.
Me too but I have seen the trailers for Joey's other aforementioned work. They just didn't interest me enough to watch them.
Speaking of Chloe, I just watched the movie Mother/Android for the 1st time in awhile and I went to check out what score it got on IMDB. It actually has a 4.9 which is super low!! I honestly think it's a bunch of racists that rated the movie becuz its not that damn bad. I gave it a solid 6, nothing amazing or anything but nowhere near a 4.9. It had to be some people who are salty about the couple lol
I remember really enjoying the beginning of the movie but I never did finish it. Wish it was rated MA and had more hardcore horror elements. I may go back to finish it this weekend.
Just read that Karen Gillan plays Chiwetel Ejiofor's ex-wife in The Life of Chuck. https://www.joblo.com/the-life-of-chuck-tiff-review-mike-flanagan-and-stephen-kings-latest/
