I don't know if you remember or not but Jeff Loeb said all the marvel shows were pre-snap. He shouldn't have said that because now there are SO MANY theories out there. lol.

Since Marvel Television is officially no more & everything Marvel now falls under the control of Kevin Feige, pretty much anything that was said about any shows done outside of the MCU prior to his becoming chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment is null & void. Unlike now the TV & movie divisions operated as separate entities. The TV shows could reference the movie characters & events to establish they were tied to the universe but the movies could completely ignore what was going on in any of the shows.

DC Scaling Back its Line of Comic Titles By Up To 25%

DC publisher Jim Lee has opened up about the comic book company's future following a round of sweeping editorial changes and layoffs in DC's management and a wave of title cancellations confirmed in DC's just-released November 2020 solicitations, stating that comic books are "still the cornerstone of everything that we do."

"Absolutely. One hundred percent. It is still the cornerstone of everything that we do. The need for storytelling, updating the mythology, is vital to what we do," Lee tells The Hollywood Reporter when asked if DC still planned to publish monthly comic books.

"The organization leans on us to share and establish the meaningful elements of the content that they need to use and incorporate for all their adaptations. When we think about reaching global audiences, and we see comics as helping drive that awareness and that international brand, it's very much part of our future."

However, Lee quickly clarifies that statement by explaining that DC's publishing line will be reduced by 20-25%, a contraction that has already begun as of those previously mentioned November solicitations, which brought the cancellation hammer down on Teen Titans, Young Justice, Suicide Squad, Hawkman, John Constantine: Hellblazer, and potentially Aquaman, which will at least undergo some changes with the departure of writer Kelly Sue DeConnick.

"That said, we will be reducing the size of the slate. But it's about looking at everything and looking at the bottom 20 percent, 25 percent of the line that wasn't breaking even or was losing money," Lee explains. "It's about more punch for the pound, so to speak, and increasing the margins of the books that we are doing. It was about aligning the books to the franchise brand content we've developed and making sure that every book we put out, we put out for a reason."

As for what the future of DC looks like, Lee leans heavily on the idea of digital comic books as the best way to reach fans while maintaining a sustainable model.

"You'll definitely see more international content. You're going to see more digital content. When you talk about growing our business, both physical and digital, to me the opportunities are global. That's what we'll be focusing on," Lee continues. "With digital, that's more of a windowing issue, meaning we'll go out there with digital content and the stuff that performs well in digital also performs well in print."

DC will embrace a model of digital-first content, which it has leaned on heavily since the COVID-19 pandemic has made it more difficult for many fans to go to stores and buy physical product, with successful digital series subsequently seeing print in physical media.

"We're using that as a model as we go out and do more digital content. We'll take the most successful books and repackage it as physical books," Lee explains. "I think there is definitely business to be had in physical periodicals. But that said, I think there's greater upside in digital because we can go to a more global audiences and the barrier to entry, especially in this pandemic, is lower."

"It's a lot easier to get digital content into the hands of consumers that want to read stories. We want to lean into that and think thoughtfully what digital content should be, what it should look like, the format."

On the management side, Lee states he'll continue on in his role as DC's sole publisher, however, DC will hire an unnamed general manager who Lee states will come on board in September.

Lee sums up his response to those speculating that DC's comic book publishing division will close and that DC's ultimate parent company AT&T want to leave comic book publishing behind stating: "Comics serve a lot of purposes."

"I don’t think they want to stop us from publishing comics. Comics serve a lot of different purposes and one of them is it's a great way to incubate ideas and creating the next great franchises," Lee states. "We want to continue that. Why would you want to stop that? Why would you want to stop creating great content that could be used across the greater enterprise?"

Warner Bros. Partners with Epic Games to Release Fortnite: The Last Laugh Bundle

Epic Games, creators of the free-to-play battle royal Fortnite, have partnered with Warner Bros. Interactive and DC Comics to announce The Last Laugh Bundle – another in a long list of cosmetic packages that Epic had introduced since Fortnite Battle Royal’s release almost three years ago.

As its name suggests, The Last Laugh Bundle will feature three new skins, two of them being some of Batman’s most notorious villains, including Poison Ivy and, of course, The Joker. The bundle will also include Midas Rex, who, while not a DC villain, is an integral part of Fortnite’s overarching narrative.

Also included in the bundle are 1000 V-Bucks, the paid currency used to purchase battle pass access, and other cosmetics. Plus, three new Back Blings, four new pickaxes including an appropriately themed mallet known as “Bad Joke,” and the new “Pick a Card” Contrail.

The Last Laugh Bundle will be available on November 17.

Disney+ Confirms More Movies Will Join Mulan as Premier Access Releases

A new report confirms that Disney may debut more blockbuster movies through its Disney+ Premier Access tier following the Sept. 4 release of Mulan.

Disney appeared to hint over the weekend that Mulan won't be the only blockbuster movie coming exclusively to its Disney+ Premier Access platform in coming months.

According to multiple exchanges between Murphy's Multiverse and Disney+ customer service agents, Disney seems to be planning to roll out multiple big movie releases through the streaming service in the same way the live-action remake of Mulan will be released.

n one exchange, an agent confirmed, "FOR NOW WE have Mulan, but when time goes by, the premier access WILL BE MORE UPDATED and more movies to watch." A second agent added "that Disney+ will offer more amazing movies." A third agent directed Murphy's Multiverse to a URL that is currently linked to the Mulan streaming campaign but can easily be updated with other film properties in the future if need be.

It was announced last month that Disney+ subscribers would have the option to pay a one time fee of $29.99, on top of the monthly/yearly subscription, which grants access to Mulan for as long as they are an active member of the streaming service. While Disney CEO Bob Chapek said at the time that the release would be a one-off, it now seems possible that Disney's Jungle Cruise, Pixar’s Soul or Marvel’s Black Widow could also end up premiering on the streaming service at a later date through the Premier Access option.

I remember reading a comment about a lot of the black characters on the CW "hero" shows. "The CW writes white characters, then hires black actors to play those white characters". I can kind of see that.

For whatever reason, that's never bothered me. Often times, the black experience is equated with hood shit. I don't want that. I'm over it.

I agree with the “hood shit”. I was referring to their asexuality and quirkiness. It reminds me of the asexual “best friends” in series back in the day. But, I agree with you 1000 times, I am beyond sick of the hood shit.

THE FLASH: Ben Affleck Is Officially Returning As BATMAN In The 2022 Movie

Vanity Fair has revealed that Ben Affleck is set to reprise the role of Batman in The Flash movie that will race into theaters in 2022. With the Fastest Man Alive confirmed to travel between different realities in the DC Multiverse, it's already been reported that Michael Keaton will be back as the Caped Crusader, but we never expected to see this version of the hero again.

Affleck received the script for the movie last week, and has now agreed to star in the project.

"He’s a very substantial part of the emotional impact of the movie," director Andy Muschietti explains. "The interaction and relationship between Barry and Affleck’s Wayne will bring an emotional level that we haven’t seen before. It’s Barry’s movie, it’s Barry’s story, but their characters are more related than we think. They both lost their mothers to murder, and that’s one of the emotional vessels of the movie. That’s where the Affleck Batman kicks in."

The filmmaker later added that Keaton's Batman will have a "substantial" part, but it wouldn't work for the Flash to meet another Dark Knight without "the original" being part of the proceedings. "He’s the baseline," the director notes. "He’s part of that unaltered state before we jump into Barry’s adventure. There's a familiarity there."

In the same interview, producer Barbara Muschietti reveals that she was surprised Affleck was happy to return as Batman given past comments he made about playing the character, but noted that "he’s now in a very different time in his life. Right now he’s in a place where he can actually enjoy being Batman. It's a pivotal role, but at the same time it’s a fun part."

I was one of the ones that was not on board with Ben as Batman but he actually made it work. He grew on me in the Director's cut of Dawn Of Justice.

Disney+ Could Introduce New Adults-Only Section For R-Rated FOX And Touchstone Films

Disney+ is great, but there's a notable lack of any films not rated PG-13, PG, or G. That's stopped a lot of big titles from arriving on the streaming service, including Fox releases like Deadpool, Alien, and Bohemian Rhapsody. However, a new rumor indicates that there could be plans to add an adults-only section to give subscribers access to a wider array of content.

"Hearing interesting reports from sources in the last couple days that Disney is creating essentially a more adult section of Disney+ that will require pin code access," reporter Bill Hunt says. "And that's where all of the Fox and MGM content will go moving forward. Including lots of #4K."

He later clarified that he meant to say Touchstone, not MGM, as that studio was responsible for releasing Disney films aimed at older moviegoers.

As Hunt explains, "It makes sense for some of these Fox and MGM titles to go on Disney+ because it already has a far larger international reach than Hulu (which is only available in the US and Japan at the moment)." With such a large library of R-Rated content at its disposal, it makes no sense for Disney not to capitalise through its streaming service.

It's unclear when this new section of Disney+ would be added, but it's bound to increase its subscriber count.
