Lol. Not literally all night, more like every 2 or 3 hours. Which can be torture when you have just fallen in a deep sleep and baby starts again. In fact why did I even do this to myself, now that the others all sleep well. Starting all over again.

In garrison I used to stay out past curfew doing all kinds of stuff when I was stationed in Korea. Then waltz in at 5:00, change clothes, do Pat, lift weights at lunch, then go to bed at 17:30 just to wake up at 20:00 and do it all over again.

In Iraq, It was the never ending lack of sleep. If it wasn’t mortar fire or back to back searches, it was the ambush and sniper fire. You can’t sleep because your adrenaline won’t stop, and just when you are about to calm down and doze off, “hey, we got intel on blah blah, gotta go blah blah”. A bunch of zombies trying to drive with NVGs, lol, wild times.

It depends on the shade of black man. The lighter you are, the more everything shows. People can see dark circles under my eyes. Not sure about Beasty.

Then you must be pretty light skinned. One can see the dark circles (and bruises and other colours) on my sons as well, but they don’t really count as “black”. Africans with undiluted African blood are the benchmark for blackness in Europe lol.

I am light, but you don’t have to be incredibly light to see bruising or dark circles. As far as Europe having a different scale for blackness, I find that most countries change the scale depending on where you are from. For example, Asian countries tend to be very anti-African, but can be very warm to some black Americans and brits. Some British black people have issues in England, but do well in the U.S., meanwhile, I am well received in England, yet may run into issues depending on which city I am in in the U.S. it’s an odd concept, but a concept that 98% of black men are quite versed in.

It’s not like Europe prefers Africans or prefers darker skin, it’s just that most of the black people we know in continental Europe do have darker skin and there’s no „one drop rule“...

The statement of preference was not in relation to your statement on Europe. It was a general statement elaborating the difference of perception based on nationality as oppose to skin tone. Thus, it was an additional observation to your already established observation.

    Okay:)
I thought maybe the word „benchmark“ was wrong. Sometimes I second-guess my English skills.

Things can always be worded better whether you are a native English speaker or not. The reality is that the vast majority of black men on this site have either traveled, or they have at least befriended people of different cultures. So, even if you make a mistake, the majority of us will understand and keep the conversation going. We (black men) are a bunch of empathetic angels.

Lmao I think you'd be surprised if you actually asked a light skin black person their actual experience

Yeah, the only thing is that I don’t drink very often and didn’t drink back then (I am aware that you like to drink). But, good times were had, weird times were experienced. Man, I have some stories of my travels, buddy. I think I might spend a couple months between Seoul and Tokyo next year.

I don’t know why you have a hard time believing that Europe has a different perception of blackness. I think we’ve been at this point several times.

Oh yeah, I'm much more of a sipper tho, but sometimes traveling compels me to drink more.

We should link up at some point. We already have the investment frame of mind in common. If you ever decide to leave the site shoot me an email first. Like minded brothas.

At some point I'm gonna hit Seoul anyway. Wardrobe is gonna be lit.

I don't even engage Bernie Bots anymore. Their guru is tanking in the run-up to the debates so why bother.
