Insane. $70 million is obscene. Why so much though?? The others got off cheap.

Revealed: Dr. Dre made $70 MILLION donation to USC and has a building named after him at the campus he boasted his daughter got into 'all on her own' in the wake of admission scandal

The rapper took to Instagram on Saturday to brag about his 18-year-old daughter Truly Young's acceptance into USC.

In his social media post, the 54-year-old threw shade at those embroiled in the college admissions scandal by declaring his daughter was accepted without bribing or cheating her way in.

    • Dre and his daughter have both since deleted their congratulatory photos.

The crazy thing is that, assuming she got in because of the donation, he actually did it the legal way. It's wealth privilege, but it's legal.

Right, yes. Legally bought her into the school.
But @$70 million though? That's outrageous just to ensure your child is accepted.
Though he did get a new building named after him, so l suppose that makes up for it, lol.

He must of made a lot of money in 2018 or set to make a lot of money in 2019, because that's a humongous tax write-off! He might be on the board of directors, so he might be able to, over a set of time make that money back in some form of passive income.

FTR, he donated it in 2013.

Yup! This is the legal way, and I don't get why the others didn't do something like this. Obviously, one doesn't have to donate $70M, but this is quite common. At the university where I work... I think they may have to start putting donor names on the elevators as seemingly every building/room seems to be named.

This may not be completely about his kid, a lot of new money rich people like creating legacies for themselves by putting their names on prestigious things.

Pure speculation on my part...but when we know where he grew up and learn USC is located in Compton, it is feasible that passing it regularly and understanding its influential reputation, he had adpirations of "one day, my name is gonna be...my kid is gonna attend..."
Even though it came with a ridiculous price-tag, hey, he did it. His name and kid are in the annals of its history.

I think the others didn't do it this way because...
    1. It's more expensive. Not every rich family has 70 mil to spread around lol.
    2. It still isn't guaranteed (somehow).

Happens all the time. It's how the Trump kids got into Penn, right after daddy made $2 mil donations to the university.

    LOL! $70 million > $2 million.
    'Bigly' :p

    ="$68 PLAY MONEY.

However AB, some folks were skeptical he ever followed through.

So the quandary for you AB, is...did he make a generous contribution that allowed his son to go there?
Or, did he brag and stiff them?

    Lmaooo! :D

Why would Trump brag about a donation he never made?? Tha'ts not his M.O.

Besides, the admissions game for rich kids doesn't work that way. You pay first, then you get accepted.

Your defense of all things Trump is seriously cringy.

Gee, AB/TDS.. Did you bother to read the story?
    It's right up your alley.

The article states that they think he bragged that he made a donation but they don't really have a solid record of it.
So either Trump was a bragado who never followed through when it came to making the donations, or he made a $2 million donation that according to you, got his son into Penn.
Which one is it in your little world?

Because your hatred of all things Trump is seriously creepy.

Actually that makes even more sense because he sold Beats headphones to Apple in 2014 .....that's a significant tax write-off!
