“I want the boys with the ‘flava!’ He’s got to have some flava and edge to him,” the pop tart tells the upcoming issue of Rolling Stone.

Christina – who appears topless on the cover of her new album “Stripped” – also blasts actress Jennifer Love Hewitt for her penchant for Caucasian men.

“She wants a bunch of white boys I don’t want . . . I would scare the s- – – out of her if she came to one of my sleepovers,” she says.

Was Joss Stone mentioned? I listened to 3 of her songs today, one was her debut. Phenomenal voice, even at 16.

good one .....she def has a soulful voice .....but it kinda proves my point . she doesn't get the attention of a Britany spears, celine dion etc
i think if she started making pop music, she would get more attention.....but i understand why she wouldn't ....i'm guessing she loves soul music and is happy were
she is. and she makes good enough money.

Contrary to the title of this thread there are a few white female artists who has had some success in the r&b market. Beside obviously Teena Marie, Sheena Easton and Lisa Stansfield have also had big songs in the r&b market.

Here is a list of white female artists who has had a top ten song on the r&b charts.

Ella Mae Morse (Shoo Shoo Baby #1, Buzz Me#2)
    Dodie Stevens (Pink Shoe Laces#5)
    Connie Stevens (Sixteen Reasons#10)
    Lesley Gore (It's My Party#1, Judy's Turn To Cry#10)
Little Peggy March (I Will Follow Him#1)
    Lulu (To Sir With Love#9)
    Madonna (Like A Virgin#9)
Sheena Easton (Sugar Walls#3, The Lover In Me#5)
Lisa Stansfield (All Around The World#1, You Can't Deny It#1, All Woman #1)
    Tara Kemp (Hold You Tight#4)
Good2Go (Never Satisfied#10), white female quintet
    Gwen Stefani (Hollaback Girl#8)
Celine Dion (I'm Your Angel#5 duet with R. Kelly)
Iggy Azalea(Fancy#1 featuring Charli XCX, Black Widow#1 featuring Rita Ora)

Since Teena Marie is THE standard among white female r&b artists I decided not to list her hits here.

Another couple of artists that would fit this topic are Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt.

I thought the same thing when I originally read @beehave's post. But he didn't call Gwen Stefani, Iggy Azalea, & Madonna, R&B singers. He just listed white female artists who've had top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart.

No one is listening to that style of music these days. I get it, I miss it too, but those kinds of singers are normally banned to the youtubes of the world and making covers of those songs. The R&B of the 90s and early to mid 2000s are gone. Maybe one day it will make a come back, but it's gone. Even the singers are rapping now. True R&B doesn't get radio play. So, it isn't the "R&B" community against the "white women", it's the "Mainstream shitty pop music" against anything that isn't that.

If you are referring to the 90s and early 2000s, in regards to white women singers, there were not many who were in to that genre. Most were pop. A few singers tried the R&B thing and switched to pop/mainstream to get more of a white audience and make more money (Pink comes to mind). So, I think these are the reasons (as well as the reasons stated by other members) why there aren't many white women R&B singers.

side note: in the early 90s and 80s "sounding too black" was sometimes a career ender for white female singers.

"nobody listens to r & b hiphop anymore" ........wrong ! Justine timberlake is like 100% r&b hiphop and he is quiet successful ....suit and tie shit .....robin thicke is somewhat successful ....... but they are white men . the king of r & b is probably chris brown ....he knows how to party . yeah we still listening to r & b ,just the new r&b anyway. the best thing pink ever did (for her career ) was switch to pop rock .....get that money pink, get that fan base. (i mention pink on my first post, but people wanta tell me about pink )

Oh? How well did Timberlake's most recent album do? Same for robin thicke? And how is the performance in comparison to earlier successes? And Timberlake isn't R&B, it's pop.

I don't listen to either but I remember when Robin dropped that Paula album, the shit flopped real hard.

LOL, You sure? I agree Timberlake is a Pop artist, but if he was black, nobody would hesitate to label him R&B. It just makes sense to label his music, Pop/R&B.

If you have to add pop to the R&B part, it isn't R&B it's pop with some R&B influences. Just my opinion. And if Timberlake was black it would probably sound a little less synthesized and he would probably be targeted by #metoo for the Janet Jackson thing.

So timberlake isn't R&B because he is white ,wow , the benefits of being a white artist......you can do black music and everyone is like, naw ,that's pop music.
can you even tell the difference between when he was with nsyc and by himself ? or is it all the same to you.

I forgot about that. Does he even make music anymore? He kind of faded away.
