I was thinking the other day , listening to taylor dayne on youtube .....alot of comments on there about how people thought she was black (before seeing her video) ......just thinking there's not alot of white women doing r&b music.
(taylor dayne is not r&b,close duh ) pink first came out as r&b and later quickly switched to pop rock . are white women kinda discriminated in R&b ? they don't get much support . can anyone name some successful white female r&b singers ?
where's teena marie back in the day.

    Dusty Springfield?

Also I think Pink was pushed into early r&b. I don't think she ever wanted to be there herself, so she got away when she got the chance.

Every other white singer identifies their music as being r&b of having a r&b "feel" to it that it's kind of hard to narrow down. Hell, the chick from Cloak and Dagger describes her music as being part r&b.

LMAO, we talked about this in another thread. We live in the "Woke" era. Black females* ain't about to let no damn white female R&B singer eat.

They already don't want no more lightskin female singers. Go to the hater site I like to whine about. They HATE on every damn young up & coming lightskin/mixed female singer such as Ella Mai, Queen Naija, Jorja Smith, & etc. They sure ain't about allow any white female singer through.

Now that we got that out the way, let's the about the American exceptions (U.K. singers like Adele & Amy Winehouse don't count to me).

Mainstream-wise the closest you're gonna get is Ariana Grande. She's always been compared to Mariah Carey. With the exception of her 1st album*, all of Ariana Grande's albums are labeled as "Pop/R&B" on Wikipedia. Half of her new album "Sweetener" that just came out a week & half ago is produced by Pharrell Williams:

    * - Her 1st album from 2013 "Yours Truly" was executive-produced by Babyface & is straight-up just labeled "R&B" on Wikipedia.

    EDIT:

I just pulled this info up her Wikipedia page:

    EDIT 2:

Here's a 1.5-minute clip Rap Genius put out a couple years ago:

the white latinas don't count ..... "they" let them slide on through..... grande , lovato, cabello from 5th harmony ,
iggy azalea is the only white woman in hip hop , but she's a rapper . it's also about white support as well .....i don't think whites support white r&b singers ....no fan base.
i looked up meghan trainor and she is put in the dance pop genre.....but sounds like she is influenced by r&b thou.

R&B, in general, doesn't get much play or respect. It's mostly pop and hip pop (yes, I said hip pop). So, there is very little room for many singers. You have beyonce and then rihanna does pop, and now ariana does what she does. It isn't the late 90s or early 2000s. R&B is dead to the mainstream and it's as simple as that.

I remember one woman on Soul Train back in the late 80's. She was flirtatious with Don Cornelius.

That Cabello chick and another white Latina have a history of saying greasy shit about black people. I never listened to them before but I can understand being skeptical about these white rnb singers when they don't even like black folks. And I dont listen to new rnb but from what I've heard from many others, real rnb is dead....or at least not in the mainstream like that. The rnb I do hear in that trap/mumble rap blend.

Plus, you have those Post Malone types that do black music but say their music is some other shit.
