    Agree with the bolded.

@ Buying a rifle, he's of age. He passed the background check. What can a dealer do? Say no? Why?
Now had the FBI flagged him, they could have. The FBI dropped the ball here, not Florida's "lax" gun laws.

Remember also, that school was in a declared GUN-FREE Zone.
As have been the last 20 out of 23 overall mass shootings.

Do you think if that school was allowed to be armed, he'd have tried it? Who knows.

Nikolas Cruz didn't pass the background check because his mental health issues weren't included in any database. That's on Florida.

If your state is selling assault rifles and boxes of ammo to teenagers without a thorough background check, you can't blame just the FBI when a mass shooting occurs.
Many states have rules that state no person can purchase such a weapon until AFTER a background check is concluded. And even then, the weapon's sale is put on a list that can be referenced by law enforcement.

IMO it's good common sense for any state or jurisdiction to know when teens are buying AR-15s and excessive ammo.

The state of Florida also didn't know Cruz had several guns already in his possession. How hard would it have been to send this kid's name to local law enforcement to see if any red flags came up, like the 39 times 911 was called to his home residence??

Only collectors, fetishists and killers buy AR-15s.
You don't reduce gun violence in schools by giving people more guns in schools. Listen to the kids interviewed after the attack in Florida. The last thing they wanted were more guns on school grounds.

Rick Scott is bullshitting, as are most of the Republicans in Florida who have systematically worked to eliminate restrictions on gun sales.

You're giving the most deranged in our society a green light to live out their sickest fantasies.

You would think being from Australia you would know better and be more open minded on this issue.

We're the only modern, industrialized country in the world that has this level of crisis from gun violence, and yet the same people who worship the 2nd Amendment would claim somehow we're more 'free' than the rest of the world.

Yeah, more free to die from a gunshot.

We have strict regulations on the sale of explosives, poisons, volatile chemicals, vehicles and the practice of medicine. All in an effort to protect human lives.

It's about time we had the same regulations for weapons that were intended to be used on the battlefield.

Everybody who knew him in HS said he was either weird or crazy. Obviously he had mental health issues. I'm not saying he was schizophrenic, but clearly his mental health issues played a role in this shooting.

Doesn't matter. Florida doesn't play that shit. He's going to get the death penalty.

There was a Hispanic dude trying to beat up black people at that Unite the Right rally last year where the white female protester was killed...I forget his name. He was an active white supremacist

Plenty of third world immigrants figure to hate their way into white American acceptance. See:

    Dinesh D'Souza (Indian)
    Michelle Malkin (Filipina)

Teen who dated Florida shooter's ex-girlfriend after him, says the killer threatened his life and promised to 'watch him bleed' for 'stealing' his girl and physically attacked him twice
    [IMG]
    • In the months leading up to the shooting, Cruz sent a series of threatening messages to 17-year-old Enea Sabadini after he started dating his ex-girlfriend
    • The teenager said Cruz also picked two fights with him in September 2016
    • Sabadini claims he and several other students reported Cruz's social media messages and other threatening behavior to school officials
'...Cruz also repeatedly used homophobic and racial slurs in the message exchange, calling him a 'fa***t' and 'n****r'.

'You underground hispanic wall jumper, ill will fucking destroy you,' he also wrote.

In another message, Cruz wrote: 'You have no idea what I'm capable of' alongside a photo of a collection of weapons.

Sabadini said he started dating Cruz's ex shortly after they broke up in August 2016.

Other messages accused Sabadini of stealing the girlfriend.

The ex-girlfriend has said she does not want to be identified.

Sabadini said he ended up breaking it off with Cruz's ex in December 2016 and the most recent threatening messages from Cruz were sent several months later in August 2017.

'He got upset about that and started sending messages to me on Instagram,' Sabadini said.

The teen said Cruz also picked two fights with him in September 2016 - one of which happened on a sidewalk outside the school, while the other happened during lunch in the courtyard.

He claims Cruz charged at him during the second fight, part of which was captured on video, and Sabadini said he ended up punching him several times in the face.

Both students were suspended over the incident.

Cruz had already been expelled from the school when the messages were sent, but Sabadini said he doesn't know what led to his dismissal.
