Nothing about Pence....but do you really think a lot of the predators come across as sexual? Think of all the child molesters, isn't that how they are able to get so close to children, because they do not come off as sexual in any way?

IME - those who were the worst when it came to sexual harassment, assault, and molestation were those you would NEVER expect. They appear to be harmless and definitely not sexual. Often on interviews of family, friends, neighbors they will go on about how they would have never thought the guy was capable of anything like that.

 

Though, I don't believe in getting involved with people you work with, I think the criteria for sexual harassment is b.s.

I was just reading an article on Huffpo where an undergrad student was trying to get harsher penalties for her professor. He, made a move on her, she shut him down and told him she only wanted a professional relationship with him. He said okay and didn't bother her any further. School went on as usual. That should've been the end of it.

But, she told a friend and her friend encouraged her to report him and push for some kind of punishment. So, that's what she's doing. I'm sorry, but that's just wrong.

You can't talk to women on the stteet. That's harrasment. You can't hit on women you work with ( because for a lot of guys, that's all they do is work). That's harrasment. Its either swipe right or nothing. "Equality" was a just another bullshit buzzword used to grab power. Princess Feminism strikes again.

To be fair, their university likely has an honor code of conduct that teachers must follow, like students do, that could result in a professor losing their job over something like this, especially in recent years. Unless he is tenured or something.

 

Agreed. The point I was trying to make about Pence, is whether you believe he follows his own stated policy or not, in today's social climate, there is no doubting the wisdom of such a policy when dealing with the opposite sex, especially for those with wealth and power.

That is actually an old policy that I heard growing up. It's also one that exists in particular cultures. It used to be that any medical professional performing an exam needed to have someone in the room with them as well. It's kindof interesting that some of those groups have dropped these policies over the years given that the claims have increased.I know Therapists who keep their door open when working with clients too.
