That was expected. We already knew they were gonna play the mental illness, lone wolf bullshit. I'm surprised they didn't say he rescued a family of baby ducks last week.

Switzerland is kind of a bullshit example of a gun culture that works.
Their gun ownership is tied heavily to their mandatory conscription of all Swiss citizens, which is odd because in all the major European wars Switzerland was a neutral country. It's extremely hard to get an open carry or concealed weapon permit there too.

The Swiss look at their guns the way America did in the mid 1700s, like a huge national militia. They don't buy guns to protect themselves from other Swiss citizens. Also the standard of living is much higher there.

There are so few comparisons between a democratic socialist country like Switzerland and the USA, and despite it being legal to own guns in Switzerland, most Swizz citizens don't own one.

The USA is #1 in the world in guns owned per 100 residents, at 114 which is crazy.
Switzerland is 19# in the world at 24 guns owned per 100 residents.

Alright, now let's all get back to our regularly scheduled program of pretending to care about gun violence in this country while actually not doing a goddamn thing about it.

Likely not practical in a firefight. You'd run out of ammo in a couple seconds, not really hit your target and you can only fit about 6 extra magazines in your flak vest. 30 rounds isn't a lot for fully auto. I don't even know if they use the burst function. We weren't allowed to in basic.

Although that makes sense; it seems like they could go to 100 round circular mags because the bullets are so light. Then again it still could be less practical depending on how much it affects the accuracy not to mention a new flak vest design. I imagine you would just have to rely on that grenade launcher or air support if you were to get pinned down by some Taliban's blowing with full auto Ak's. That's even if you can safely carry an extra grenade or two.

Even then, with all the other weight you gotta carry, magazines just add to the weight even more. Full magazines are fairly heavy. You definitely feel the difference when you put them in your pouches. Combine that with grenades, medkit, water source, kevlar, etc. It's a lot. Not sure how practical 100 round drums would be when it came to firing, quickly reloading, firing in various positions. Training with those would be different. Also, if we need full auto/heavy firepower, we have SAW gunners that carry the 249 machine gun in each team, so technically, we already have full auto capability out there.

Oh, I know I'm unelectable. The older I get, the more anti-gun I become. You'd never see me run for office. But I live in a country that prioritizes easy access to weapons of mass destruction over human life so y'all can keep this shitshow lol.

Oh yeah y'all good. Makes perfect sense. The M249 will close that gap real quick. Figured I was missing something in that. The way its done now sounds practical and sufficient. Thanks for the clarity.

Well at least you know you're unelectable. I don't think the dem politicians will ever smell the coffee. Lol

I think it depends on where you live. That would never fly in the southeast but that also applies to a lot of other issues besides guns. History is littered with southern Dems who were soft on guns and still didn't get elected.

Like who?? When it comes to guns Dems are like a nagging girlfriend you can't wait to get away from and never have to hear her voice again. Lol.

For starters, try John Barrow. Hell, you can do the same for any number of southern white Democrats who've lost their seats over the past few years. They try to go Republican-lite and still end up losing to actual Republicans. Gun control is a very small part of why Dems struggle in the rural South these days.

I'll look him up but let's not ignore the reason why the dem senator from west VA is actually successful in a red state or why Gore actually lost his home state to Bush even tho he was an incumbent vice pres to a popular president. There are plenty of people that don't care for politics that just vote because they don't want to hear complaining about guns. #fact.

Maybe so, but trying to make it sound like Dems would have the south on lock if they just embraced limitless gun rights is ignoring the fact that the GOP's stranglehold on the south has as much to do with economic issues and even more to do with social issues as it does with guns. Hell, a Dem can be pro-gun, anti-gay marriage and anti-minimum wage increases and still have an uphill battle.

Hell, one of John Barrow's last campaign commercials was about how much he loved hunting and how much he loved guns. Still didn't stop him from losing to a Republican in the general election.

When given a choice between a Republican and a Republican, voters are gonna go with the Republican every single time without fail. No one's gonna vote GOP-lite when they can just vote GOP and call it a day.

Its not about economic issues when the GOP rarely if ever have an economic plan. Most of the supporters are economically ignorant. That's were the Dems have an opportunity to educate yet no one wants to hear what they say because the gun talk turns them off beforehand.
I'm not trying to make it seem like the dems would have the south on lock. They don't have west VA on lock, the senator from there is simply maximizing his options instead of going for the all or nothing approach which often yeilds nothing. Don't shoot yourself in the foot is the simple point I'm making.

Not shooting yourself in the foot has never guaranteed anything, but that doesn't mean that you should shoot yourself.. ....lol

They don't need a plan, at least not in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, etc. All they have to do is talk about taxes and they win elections because "low taxes" are a thinly-veiled code for "no handouts for those people." They've got better branding than Dems despite having worse actual ideas.

As long as the GOP can make anything Democrats have to say on the economy into a battle about who wants to cut taxes the most, Dems are going to keep losing.

Well the racists are going to vote for republicans regardless. I'm not suggesting for the dems to try to win over racists. Believe it or not some people just don't want the constant nagging or restrictions on guns. Many of which are not racists. Especially if they live in a somewhat rural area.

What person lives in a country environment doesn't enjoy target practice every now and then when they are not riding 4 wheelers, cooking out and drinking beer?? Not to mention if they ever do need the police they could be waiting long enough to be dead. They are not giving up those guns, and many of them are not racists. I've lived in the country parts of NC myself and seen it first hand. IR was even common and accepted where I was. Not everyone fits in that box.

The Mandalay Bay security guard who disappeared last week moments before he was scheduled to break his silence in television interviews has not been seen since he went to a walk-in health clinic, his union president said.

David Hickey of the Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA) told reporters Friday that he got a text the night before saying Jesus Campos was taken to a UMC Quick Care facility, though he did not specify where or whom the text came from.

A spokesperson at the UMC Quick Care, which has eight locations throughout the Las Vegas area, told Fox News on Monday that they had "heard nothing" about Campos visiting them.

Multiple requests from Fox News for SPFPA to comment on the matter were not returned Monday.

Hickey said he was meeting with MGM officials Thursday afternoon in the hours before Campos’ scheduled television appearances, including one with Fox News.

But when the meeting ended, Campos had fled.

"For the past four days he's been preparing ... we had a meeting with MGM officials, and after that meeting was over, we talked about the interviews, we went to a private area, and when we came out, Mr. Campos was gone," Hickey told reporters, according to Fox 5 Las Vegas.

Hickey said Campos had requested to go public and wanted to tell his story and move on from the Oct. 1 shooting investigation. Police say he was shot just before the crazed gunman killed 58 at music festival on the Las Vegas Strip – though the sequence of events is still in dispute.

Campos was last photographed in public on Oct. 10, accepting an “SPFPA Hero Award” for bravery in the line of duty, while dining with Hickey and others at a high-end Vegas steakhouse. But soon afterward, investigators said that the security guard was shot before the massacre, raising questions about whether the hotel did enough to prevent the bloodshed.

Hickey has said that before he vanished, Campus was looking forward to telling his side of the story.

"Right now I'm just concerned where my member is, and what his condition is. It's highly unusual,” Hickey said Friday. “I'm hoping everything is OK with him and I'm sure MGM or the union will let (media) know when we hear something," he said.
