The series premiere of Shonda Rhymes "Still Star-Crossed" is airing right now & I got it on in the background. I see mixed/multi-racial households in this show. I can see why ABC decided to make this a summer show instead of debuting in the Fall or mid-season. This is gonna make racists (even some black folks) mad AF.

The black guy from Orphan Black is in the new season. They seemed to by the trailer to have nixed on anything happening with her and Dolls with the looks of that shower scene of her and Doc and Dolls seemed to become that raging monster we got a taste of towards the end of season 1. So it seems as though as just another sidekick black guy.

 

You may be right but to be fair if you looked at trailer for season one you would have never guessed Dolls was a potential love interest for that season.

 

I thought so too until I just noticed Wynonna Earp has almost an identical premise of Supergirl.

-Lesbian Sister

-Weak IR love angle with a black guy that is a bit standoffish

-White lover who she has been more intimate with

-The black guy becomes a sidekick

-He seems to be asexual, everybody has more of a sex life than him

-Less Screen time even though his name is in the credits right after the female lead

The exact same formula that was used in season 2 of The Following.

 

Actually a somewhat different formula. Supergirl pretty much had eyes for James alone, only looking temporarily somewhere else because of James' relationship with Lucy. Wyona on the other hand slept with Doc pretty much immediately, and only later was it revealed she had a thing for Dolls too. Also at the end of season one her relationship with Dolls became strained. In a typical setup with all white characters the hookup with Dolls would be more of the long game but I'll admit things are always up in the air when a black guy is involved.

 

Except when the network is foreign.

Actually they were flirty with each other all season. From the time they first met, to the time she caught him working out without a shirt on where she became flustered, the way they have looked at each other and use of language towards one another. Every time they made the audience kept thinking something was going to happened they pulled back. Teasing.

 

Don't think they were flirty with each other in the first few episodes and it is within those first few that she sleeps with Doc. Which was my point. The Doc thing happens immediately. There was no equivalent occurrence on Supergril. Kara was pining for James from pretty much episode one and there was no true rival for her heart in that first year

 

Which episodes are you talking about? I honestly can't remember exactly, but I do remember those scenes.
But I just looked on youtube and fans of the show already have those fan-made videos of her and dolls and other with her and Doc.





Split the fanbase up like they have done with supergirl, but purposely give the fans of them being with the white guy more intimacy, while leaving the black guy standoffish and a side character. It's almost as if they are subliminally trying to get the fans to lean towards the side they want for the female leads by debasing the black men as lovers.
