The hard part is should we be marching for people who look down us as a whole. Then again maybe standing together will help with all that. Then again it seems like once people get their rights they are ok shitting on black folk ie white gay men

Because of the Christian belief that tells all of us that to forgive is divine, no matter what the offense. Of course, there are many who do not believe. The sentiment is, "God forgives, I don't."

Vengeance does not belong to us, no matter what the offense.

Forgiveness requires inner strength, compliance and faith.

Racism is deeply embedded in their culture so I would say no. We have done nothing to them so I remain neutral when I hear about them getting deported not my problem. Apparently they were here illegally so....

People have taken from and abused black people far to long. Before western slavery black people were enslaved by Arabs in masse from the 7th century to the 20th.

I don't begrudge anyone, but any culture or group of people currently holding racist views can kindly go fuck themselves. As a group no one gives a damn about us. Of course you find people who are cool on an individual level so I leave it at that and see them for the human beings that they are. Most people don't even do that for bm so we owe them nothing. Kissing their ass won't reverse centuries of racism.

Like I said before. These people don't understand logic and humanity. So the way of the world is to attain power. That's something that everyone understands because they have no choice.

Privilege comes from power so blacks can use power to gain equal footing and the respect that all humans deserve.

Its a universal language. Nothing wrong with self preservation especially when countless people want to see you enslaved, or dead.

Black people are the only group who believe in that shit. I never see other groups (Christian or not) forgiving folks who harm or terrorize them.

No offense but if some supernatural being is going to toss me into a lake of fire for not loving my enemies then why not today? I'm not going to turn the other cheek or love people that hate me, not now, not ever. I'm a forgiving person but I won't forgive racists individuals. They want to see me dead or enslaved, there is no forgiveness for that. Best thing to do is stay out of my way.

I hear you but I think the only way we genuinely improve things is to stand together. The hateful individuals will continue to do their own thing but if the whole of each group stood together, I think we'd see change. I don't think the "whole" of any group is bad; I think as is often the case, the few bad overshadow the majority that's good. Maybe some people just don't care about unity or equality unless it benefits them, and that's their right I guess, I think it's pretty sad though. Why should anyone fight to protect you and yours (generally speaking "you") if you won't fight for them and theirs? Idgaf who you are, I'll fight for every living, breathing human being until the day I die. It'd be crazy to think the change we could make if more people felt (AND ACTED) that way.

The mother I think forgave them because no physical harm was done and she realized they were idiots. However if they had shot and killed those kids, I don't think she'd be singing the same tune.

I hear you but I think its a bit easier for you because no one hates you and wants to see you dead in mass just because you exist. It's hard as fuck to be constantly reminded that no matter the culture swaths of people are either indifferent or support your suffering

I don't know. Black folks forgave Dylan Roof.

I would like to stand together. The issue is I assume like with me and other brothers on here, we're waiting for THEM to show that they care before we jump on the bandwagon and carry on with this forgiveness and passive mentality black folks have had. A lot of black folks look at MLK as the only black example we should follow. Sometimes, that kumbayah stuff ain't the ticket, especially when it comes to uplifting black people even a fraction of a percentage. Sometimes we can't just wait for a white savior to walk into the inner city school and make things better. The thing is, this won't be solved tomorrow or even 10 years. This is a cultural, worldwide issue. It's gonna take time to unfuck generations of this thought process.

When all other races see us as sources of entertainment and cultural trends, it's hard to jump on board and fight for their cause. A lot of people are down with us when the trap music and football games come on. When it's time to handle business, the pack scatters.

Here is a question for you both; if you have the opportunity to carry out your vengeance against an offender, would you do it right away, even if it harms others who were not involved or wait for another day or time to carry it out?

It's not about vengence. It's about justice and letting people know that their shit stinks and it will not be tolerated or forgotten so don't try it again.

Violate my rights and I will press charges and prosecute your ass. Attack me and I will defend myself with brutal force and I won't feel bad about any of it nor will I feel a need to spout politically correct bullshit because I am already the bigger person by being the one that didn't start it.

Vengeance is going on a totally different direction. They were saying more of, I won't fuck with you so don't fuck with me. Let's stay out of each other's way if you aren't with me.

Justice and revenge can be blurred. I had learned that some things cannot be answered by force or the law. When I was robbed at gunpoint, the offenders, all black, took a lot from me. They took away not only the little money I had and hit me after I complied but also took away my sense of security, my courage to walk after dark.

The police told me that what I had told them was not enough. There was nothing they could do.

I didn't get justice that time.

I was asked if I could ever forgive those boys who had robbed me. My reply was, "I didn't think about forgiveness even after all these years."
It happened in 1992 on July 17th and it is still one of the darkest episodes ever in my life. I had dark fantasies about revenge if I saw them again. But after all these years, I have probably would not remember their faces. Not even the driver who pointed the gun at me.

I guessed that they were either doing time in prison or dead.

The one thing that came out of this event was a change of college majors. I was first majoring in communications prior to the robbery. After the robbery and my loss of justice, I went to criminology and criminal justice to understand crime and why people commit it. I can't say that it was the right decision but it was a direction that seemed logical and necessary.

Life is defined as a multitude of things. Among those things are checks and balances.

You may not believe it but God is the record keeper. And when you(and your offender)go before God, your record will be reviewed.
