Your analysis doesnt factor in technology. A lot of the social science classes can be taken online greatly reducing costs. Yes over saturation into certain feels may be a concern but then market forces should adjust. If we can reach full employment and there aren't enough people making salaries to pay for high rents and expensive consumer products reasonably prices would have to fall dramatically to meet the supply problem. This is all theory of course. I'm just saying can we move the ball forward without demanding perfection first. The current system plain sucks we can all agree on that. And like boba said if raising my taxes by even 5% means free healthcare and education with reasonable price controls please sign me up take my money.

Greatly reducing costs? A lot of the costs come from professors salaries. You still need them to teach the online classes. The building isn't the cost it's already paid for, its the demand for the classes that raise the cost in that respect. The market forces adjust the demand because people won't keep paying for majors after awhile if no jobs are in the field; however with free college you can't rely on any help from market forces you have to make the restriction yourself in order to limit certain majors.

You're right don't make a new thread because you don't have any new information, just thoughts on the fly.

Again a comparison of the systems you hold in high regard to ours. You can't post links?

With tech you need far less professors since more and more people will opt for staying home in their pajamas over going to actual class. Have you taken an online class? It's mostly do it yourself while you watch a lot of instructor videos. I think a lot of what makes college great is the social interactions but we aren't in school for enlightenment it's skills training in order to work so you can feed yourself.

I have a programming class this semester it's my first online class. A professor will be administering the class it's not "do it yourself," even if he doesn't teach much he will still get paid at a cost to me. Would you like to take up some of that cost? Lol

And tech is just one division of fields. That division also has many fields within it. You have IT directors/Administrators, Programmers/developers, and Technicans/Engineers. I fall within the last category Which is different than the other two, before you start over generalizing. Not to mention all the other fields like biotech.

    That's it.

    Lol

You have to do more than that. Raise taxes stop subsidizing sports. Around 2009 or 2010 university of Alabama (roll tide) got about 7 million dollars. Just Alabama...Not talking Auburn or any of the other states schools...Per business insider or Forbes I think. Also students pay for sports in the increase in tuition . So to get free college you will need to hook a lot of stuff.

What are you exactly looking for?
Do you want me to compute figures for you?
I know certain things like how much our GDP is and how much we allocate to certain things.
I know how insane the rate of education expense has increased. Especially in comparison to other countries. With technology costs go down over time they don't go up to a point where education now costs damn dear what a family makes yearly.

Its hard for me to have sympathy. I have seen people with serious illness's barerly able to raise $700 on GoFundme, but seeing an able bodied couple able t work raise over 10K from strangers disgusts me as a society.

Hell he just told you why.

He's saying she's is an able body and can go get things done versus a person who is terribly sick.

money to the children's hospital would be better than her that's a real investment

We know for sure they need it. She questionable

You're comparing adversities, which really isn't fair.
Of course you can say no one deserves any donations when there are sick and disabled people who need money for medical expenses.
But that doesn't mean a college student trying to raise money for her education is somehow unworthy.

Be mad at the people who don't donate money to those most in need, but that doesn't negate the financial concerns of incoming college students.

Anyway the girl has raised almost $35K in 6 days and may end up receiving enough money to help pay for her entire 4 year tuition.

Remember, hospitals are staffed by doctors and nurses, medical professionals who are all former college students.
Don't downgrade the importance and contributions of those who actually go to undegrad and then earn post-graduate degrees.

No one is downgrading anything. She claims she can't get around to school or work. What about her man/bf to help her?

She said she can't get financing. Well in Alabama she has to be working, filing taxes as an independent and no one claiming her , for a year to get grants.

She can go to a cheaper school. Go to a community college and then transfer.

    No excuses.

If I didn't see people/children with cancer barely able to afford expensive medical bill given just $1000 it wouldn't disgust me. However what I see are 2 adults fully capable of working raise 30,000K. People that are completely able to roll up their sleeves and enter the job market. Considering that the couple attends a private school I"m also pretty sure the BF's parents have a upper middle class-affluent income. Loads of people can't afford college its called scholarships, and financial aid programs/working for a year or two first/Community college.

I can guarantee if I posted that I needed food, and rent money most people would not donate. I am mad that people don't donate to people in real need. Her boyfriend is also attending college, and playing football obviously if he wanted to he could step up to the plate, quit athletics, and work a job. How about donating money to the Syrian boy that had both of his parents killed in a US airstrike? This women has lead a pampered wife, and it amazes me that the masses are content to allow that to remain.
