I was listening to a news report on the radio about this on my way home from work yesterday. The reporters asking whether or not parents would be upset with their kids for participating in the protest, not to mention missing out on classes and being counted as absent for the day.

If my kid felt that strongly about the newly elected president-to-be and could verbally describe to me he reason/s as to why he/she felt the importance and need to be a part of this demonstration, you damned better believe I am going to support my kid!

To say that these kids should be punished somehow for exercising their freedom to peacefully protest and freedom of speech, that shows you just how irresponsible and immature our grown society is today. These kids are doing this the right way, mostly without violence. We truly have a lot to learn from this generation, more than I ever gave them credit for.

I would tell my child they can protest but they will not sacrifice their education day. They are more than welcome to sacrifice a day from their weekend to do it, however.

Or before school. Or after school. Or sacrifice their sports/ballet/music/ dance practice to protest.
