Facts don't matter ONLY winning. Something I've come to learn about conservatives. Fuck everyone gridlock the system starve people and see them homeless as long as I win and the other guy loses. Winner takes all
It is like being the hero. Lex can lie his butt off to be president but if supes goes just a sec off the rail....
I can't even be mad at the protests. People are angry, hurt, scared shitless, and all absolutely, rightfully so. The man seems on borrowed time, honestly, and I don't say that smugly. Reality of the situation is that you can only incite so much hate and violence until it eventually bites you in the ass. He's got the support of (many) white people but he's spent the last year making enemies of literally everyone else. Not a bright move.
Actually it's the smartest move because those he oppress essentially have privileges not rights and those with rights are itching at the chance to put down as many brown people as they can. This is the greatest video game they've been dying to play for decades and say worst case scenario a disgruntled person gets him and they aren't white game over. I say this with with no sarcasm interment camps like its 1940s Germany believe that.
I understand their anger, but protesting is a colossal waste of time. The election is over, it's in the books Trump won fair and square. They need to focus on ways within the system to stop Trump. Unless he gets impeached for something (fingers crossed) he is going to have at least two years to do whatever he wants, we just need to accept that. However, if the Democrats double down on getting control of congress away from the republican in the midterm elections, they can play obstructionists until a winnable democrat can be nominated in 2020.
My daughter was talking about this at dinner lol. I assured her if anyone can find a way to get impeached, it's him lol. As for the protesting, when it's peaceful I fully support it. Does it change anything, no, but it allows people a sense of solidarity and power I think, in physically expressing their disappointment and frustration. Let them mourn what happened yesterday and then we can talk about how to ensure change going forward. I think to move forward with strength, we have to first come to grips with the reality we were shown with this election. I've spent the last 24 hours carrying tissue in my bra because the waterworks come everytime I have two free seconds to mentally review what in the actual fuck just happened. As time ticks by, our hearts heal a bit and we can/will refocus our efforts. The result of this election was a stronger blow to many of us, than even I anticipated. It'll take time to reach the rational point of being able to really around actual plans to survive these next 4 years.
Amen to that, yes, I hope he is impeached or somehow booted out of the white house, or for him, he will probably make it the gold house.:smt004
I agree, the election is over. Move on. Maybe the democrats might choose a better candidate next time.
Yep. Like it or not, this one is in the books. On the other hand, now that they once again control two of three branches they only have themselves to blame if they so happen to royally fuck up. We just have to see where things are in two (and then four) years.
Democrats are notorious for not voting in off year elections. That's how Obama lost control of the House and Senate in 2010. If these progressive protests can keep voters engaged and energized until 2018, we have a real chance to halt the Trump/neo-con agenda and take back control of the legislature. So in that sense protesting does have a very real value, it keeps your grass roots politically activated.
That's the difference with the Republican Party vs the Democrat. Republicans will call out their own and will turn on them. The Dems are like blind sheeple. No matter what, they back their candidate. That's why there were 17 Repub nominees and only two for the Dems. And you see the fix was in for one of them. Trump voters chanted "USA", Hilllary's chanted "Hillary". See the difference? The American People weren't voting for Trump, or to create "death camps for Blacks" as TDK is convinced, it really is about "the economy, stupid". Jobs, ecomony, stopping the non vetted illegal immigration..How could any self respecting American not put these first?
What is his plan for the economy?...lol. The republicans have been using a flawed model from an entertainer for quite some time, now they elected another entertainer. This time with zero political experience. So is he going to try something other than supply side Raganomics? Which is cut taxes irrespective of what the current rate is and completely ignore what's going on in the economy. Why don't they just reduce the rate to zero, if cutting taxes is always the way to go? What's so bad about the economy now?
Yes because the fraudulent tax evading billionaire part of a part who has literally not passed a single piece of legislation for people will get it done. Hope you have some savings because this next crash is gonna be biblical.
What's bad is that a lot of people just want good old factory jobs again they refuse to do the training to occupy 3 million of the dirty jobs waiting to be filled. A Republican had never made the economy better in our life times Reagan 87 savings and loan scandal market crash Bush Senior recession Bush junior recession and market crash Clinton and Obama low unemployment and growth. Interesting ain't it?
Backing a candidate "no matter what" is not a virtue. That's pretty much the roots of totalitarianism. People of either party shouldn't be ashamed to vote their conscience.
I want to see manufacturing come back, we actually have more of it in Florida than you may expect, but overall the country has been behind on it for some time. I don't trust the republicans to do anything but cut taxes. Maybe some people just want to pass things around in an assembly line but they can sign me up for getting dirty fixing the heavy machinery and robots. Graveyard shift at that, where you can just zone out and get things done with less politics. How is the work life/philosophy in Canada? I agree with the European philosophy so I may start sending out some resumes to Europe when I'm done with school.
Higher taxes but cheaper tuition and healthcare. I have never heard anyone use the term stressed out out there. It ain't perfect but at least if people aren't working there's support. My girl decided to get a PhD hopefully she gets in somewhere then we're out. I'll live off savings till I get a job if we can move. When white nationalist start marching through the streets it's time to leave. This country is set to implode and outside of voting in 2 years what can be done?
