I just hope Trump isn't stupid enough to believe we can win a ground war in Iran without losing 10,000-20,000 American troops.

Calm down bernie supporters let us worry about 2020 election or maybe 2018...

The sad part about 2018 is the the electoral map for the Senate favors the GOP even more than this one did. A lot can change in two years but after what I've seen during this election, I'm not optimistic.

You could have made that same argument in 2008 and it was far worse for the republicans. Second worst financial event in USA history. so they need to merge the bernie supporters and not lean to the right because that cost the party ... Trump has put a high bar as Obama did and chances are he will disappoint.

You are way too optimistic my friend. It amazes me since you live AZ at that.

The difference is it'll be squarely places on black and brown people. He will get zero criticism

The difference between those two elections, though? A Presidential race. Those elections have much higher turnout than midterm elections do.

Plus, by the time that election rolled around Bush was historically unpopular. That, combined with a the first black major party nominee makes that kind of enthusiasm unlikely to happen again.

More of a realist, pessimism is one of my least favorite emotions, no matter how bad things seem they can always improve. As someone who has been on select committees working in Washington, I have seen those better angels I quoted in my last post as well as the demons.

This is the same man who reportedly asked an advisor "If we have nukes why can't we use them?" I trust his foreign policy knowledge about as far as I can throw him.

Hopefully he will do the opposite of his campaign and surround himself with actual advisors and not just yes-men who will parrot back to him whatever he wants to hear.

The comparison is fair and you added more evidence to it.
2008 Obama was on top. The republicans had the second worse financial disaster. They had a president that was unpopular and tied to them.

Now we have a good economy that was handed off. The president had higher approval ratings than people liking either trump or Clinton.

If the republicans being able to get out of the hole that they were in by 2010 isn't evidence that the democrats can't do the same then you have truly abandoned hope.

To be fair Ryan and McConnell made comments against trump. They do have black republicans that have disagreed. Powell made comments. The senator of south carolina has made comments about being stopped so many times for driving while black...

Stop being negative man we got to regroup and go at it. think of it as your shot to get the candidate closes to Bernie that you wanted in 2020 and putting in people that are more like Bernie in 2018 in the house or senate.
Got to get rid of the clintonites though. we gave them three shots. They have proven that no one wants their brand. Was proven by Obama in 08 and now 16

I was comparing Bush then to Trump in 2018, unless I misunderstood in your first post. Obama won't be around as a draw for voters in two years. Hell he campaigned like crazy for Clinton this year and she still lost. The job of getting out the vote will depend on whoever the "leader" of the Democratic party is going to be.

Lol yeah, I kinda have. In addition to the Senate races there's also the redistricting that was done after the 2010 election. The Senate itself can't be redrawn but House districts in a lot of states are heavily tilted towards the GOP. Even if the Senate does flip to Democrats in 2018 the GOP's still going to keep the House unless they just completely shit the bed over the next two years.

I think we misunderstood each other on the first part. so I am just going to drop it.

The second part I have to take a look on the redistricting.

Hillary was anchoring for war with Russia. Today that imminent catastrophe was averted.

I wish the incoming Douchebag-in- Chief and his administration four years of mayhem, foreign policy nightmares, war, setbacks and utter failure. Let the fun begin on Jan 20th. #NeverTrump

I have heard this assumption before Bliss but cant really find any proof to back it up. What leads to you believe this about Clinton?

Meanwhile Trump's decision on whether to invade Russia his first day in office is going to be based on whether Vladimir Putin tweets something mean about him or not. That is, if his aides ever let him get back into his account so he can even see it.

And even if what you said about Clinton was true (I'd love a source by the way), I'd take a bit of hawkishness over a man who literally does not understand why we can't just go around flinging nukes at people because we have them. Just because I play Fallout doesn't mean I actually want to live in it.

But if you think that the Trump administration, backed by Vice President Mike Pence and a hawkish Republican Congress, isn't going to police the world indefinitely and keep us in a perpetual state of war overseas then I have some beachfront property in Oklahoma to sell you.
