There's a difference between making a piecemeal effort, and acting like police brutality is a figment of Black folk's imaginations.

Could you not make the same argument that plants deserve to live and why must they die for you to eat them?

Kind of puts things into to prespective when you realize half the country decided not to even vote for these 2 shitty candidates.

Clinton won the the popular vote. In hindsight, it's obvious that the DNC should've chose Bernie Sanders as their nominee.

 

California wisdom:

 

The world governments could step in and purchase more grains to feed the poor. By doing that it would be more profitable for farmers to sell more for human consumption. That alone would reduce the incentive to raise more cattle with the available land and shrink the beef industry. The beef that would remain available would be more expensive, but it would be worth the cause.

So, yes the world could benefit from shrinking the beef industry. All the other available meats remaining can afford to go untouched. People don't eat as much of the other red meats anyway. (At least not in the US)

The meats that are not red are not creating any kind of problem.

While feeding the poor poultry, eggs, honey and seafood should also be given to them whenever possible.

We need to be concerned about what's happening to the bees. If they die, we wont be far behind them.

 

Its the only fish that goes with red wine. Can't help but love it.

It's refreshing to see your bee awareness. Many are ignorant to the vital (pollinating) role they play in our very survival.

Interesting that you bring up the profit incentive to farmers. Right now it's fiscally advantageous to raise cattle, than it is fruit grains and vegetable, because the Govt greases their palms. Good ol boys looking out for their bank accounts.

 

Fret not. Because nanobot bees will replace real bees soon enough.

Two years ago our 4-H club started a bee keeping project similar to this one http://www.ironbeekeeper.org/. It has been great for the kids to raise awareness of the importance of bees and our food chain, the challenges to the bee population, and has the added bonus of producing a revenue stream for the club as we are able to sell the honey through some local stores.

It was a tough road to get the project approved (even in our rural community) as many are still scared of bees (some valid concerns with allergies, ect., some just were assholes about the project and did not want it) as well as insurance issues for the club, but in the end it has worked out well. We partnered with some local bee keeping clubs to train our kids, great skill to have.

We are looking into this, but there seem to be some concerns about how the product works...

What a Great club. How wonderful that you are making kids aware..as a child l never knew how important they are to humans.

I really love honey and l'm still researching if honey is merely the elimination or by-product from bees, and thus not taking anything substantive from them...or if honey is mandatory for their functioning as bees. It doesn't seem to harm them by us taking it, but l still don't know for sure.

 

Don't tell your vegan friends they are against eating honey.

It's the only sweetner I use.

 

Most of the negative feedback I have heard is about the plastic comb per below

Basically from what I can tell, traditionalist beekeepers do not like the "flow hive" because of the plastic comb, and the automation features does not teach humans how to truly and properly interact with and respect the bees, basically making it "too easy". I say anything that helps bees with more habitats and creates more people being open to having their own hives is a good thing, but im still researching, plus the cost to the club ($600-$700 per hive) is not cheap.

 

I'm fully aware they are. But lm not sold yet on why. Many vegans don't eat it because they consider it secretions from an animal.(insect) My guidelines are: does it harm them? If no, then l eat it.

I only use pure honey though, not the heavily processed kind. As a child, my mother fed us unfiltered honey-comb, which we chewed on like it was gum. So l aquired only that taste.
