I know we have a separate movie trailer but this movie stands alone because it's probably going to be the most important film in the last 50 years. I am pre ordering tickets now and buying some as gifts for family and friends. For those of us with daughters nieces mothers aunts and cousins this is too important not to go and see.

America needs more movies like this one. Never heard of these Engineer women before.

    Is that Janelle Monae???

This is why my professors in college always said the teaching of history is subjective.

Since our collective history is almost limitless, which histories do we choose to tell??
Like millions of others, I NEVER heard about these women before.
    Not even a hint.

American history is so heavily slanted towards retelling the stories of White men, we miss knowing about the contributions of women and minorities to the American tapestry.

I don't know if this flick will be the most important movie of the last half century(lol), but it is a one of kind narrative.

Looks ass. Easily could be a straight to Netflix release.

To me anything showing minorities and women in a light like this is seldom told. Not as slaves not as characters to be saved by white men but incredibly capable. The smartest people in the damn room.
In your opinion what films were more important?

IMO there's no such thing as the 'most important film' of the last half century.

    How are you defining important??
Are you only including American movies??
That's just a big leap to make without having even seen this new movie.

I'll be there. But, I'll bet most of "us" will stay home and wait till it comes to Redbox or something. Then, bitch about the only movies that get made starring black folks are slave stories.

I'd lol if it wasn't so damn tragic.

Uncle Dark; waking up his people. One relative at a time. ...lol

Real talk, thats good you're doing that. I encourage everyone to do the same. We definitely need more of these types of films made and the only way they get made is if we support them, en masse, at the box office on opening weekend. Not Redbox, nor Netflix or Ray-ray an nem' selling DVD's at the barbershop on the weekend.

    Go see that shit, people.

We can't complain they don't make movies with us in it if we don't support them. This shit better break records.

I was trying to remember how we did it before I made the post, but I dont. Been too long ago. I just remember beers being passed around every time we went to the movies. Lol.

It couldn't have been too difficult considering movie staff at night is usually high school and college kids anyway.

If you don't believe this happend I have to question how long you been living in Philly. Lol
