I get what you're saying. As a liberal... I don't have issues with a person simply because they're conservatives. It's all about their views. I have an ex-coworker whom I consider a good friend. She's conservative but we can discuss and agree/disagree without insults and such. However, my ex-g/f has a brother in which I'll never be more than civil with as .... He's one who believes all of the negative stereotypes about blacks. In fact... He's quite the racist toward anyone who isn't white and/or WASP.
Anyone ever think we're just doomed to destroy each other? Can we get along and coexist in peace? I have such a hard time believing it's possible. Most people can't be reached by words videos or facts. They believe what they believe and hold on to it for dear life even it destroys them. Sometimes I wish I could build my own community far from the rest of the world.
Yup because voting for democrats has never gone wrong for me now I wonder how many republicans can say that.
Where you live..is it Democrat? Look at Democratic voter cities ruled by Dems for decades..never gone wrong for them either. So what are you complaining about again?
Well apparently Archangel and co. believes there is no such thing as a moderate or centrist with left or right leanings depending on the issues. You must choose a side or it will be chosen for you. Know your place.
If only the democratic voters in all of Illinois and the city of Chicago could claim the same thing. :smt043:smt043:smt043 Your statement is such a load of crap. But, keep voting for your local and state democrats. They're the SAVIORS of all mankind.
Honestly, TDK, this isn't directed at you, personally, this is directed at the massive amount of crap I see all over the internet from democrats in general who spout the sentiment you spouted - democrats are amazing, republicans are evil. That rhetoric is just so old and tired. I just can't take it anymore and I'm fighting back by voicing my disapproval at these sentiments.
Look this might be a case of two different areas but in NY progressive Democrats have done a lot for the people. I don't live in Chicago so I won't comment on your experience.
But, you just made my point. Yes, we should celebrate the politicians that actually seem to be working for the majority of their constituents. But what we shouldn't do is celebrate the political parties they belong to. It has less to do with the parties and more to do with the individuals representing the parties. The democrats in Illinois are freaking terrible. The majority of them are terrible, corrupt, and self-serving. We need to STOP idolizing the parties and start idolizing the good politicians. And newsflash, they can be found on BOTH sides of the political spectrum.
