Maybe it makes your conscious feel good to pretend you're above all the partisanship and political bickering, but what I see Paniro is a conflicted conservative unwilling to fully identify with his chosen party because they don't fully represent your beliefs.

The Democrats aren't perfect, but it's insane to believe BOTH parties are the same and serve the same interests.

In fact that's a political meme that's been pushed by the GOP to give them cover when they do their dirt, like shut down the government or block common sense policies and legislation they once supported but can't anymore because there's a Negro sleeping in the WH.

The GOP wants to privatize EVERYTHING in this country and sell it for a profit.

National parks, education, the military, health care, federal agencies, etc.

The main problem with the GOP is they believe in capitalism as a higher social ideal than DEMOCRACY.

In that sense, they are the flip side of the Bolsheviks circa early 20th century Russia.

When your core value as a political party is the profit motive, maybe you're qualified to be a CEO, but you aren't suited anymore to lead a country.

Look at how our allies run their countries and compare that to the U.S.
With the money the average American spends on healthcare, we have some of the worst health outcomes in the industrialized world.

Yes the system is rigged against poor and middle class citizens, but more often than not it's rich conservatives who are setting up the system to fail the rest of us.

We hear the same tired failed ideas from the GOP, cut taxes and reduce regulations.

Why?? Because big companies don't like having to pay out money to be in compliance with federal safety regulations, regulations that are meant to benefit the well being of everyday people.

The rich already pay less of a percentage in total income tax than the middle class and the poor, so why the obsession with lower taxes??

Because the end goal for conservatives is to cripple the federal government.

A weak federal government allows the rich to control more of the country without interference from Uncle Sam.

We're repeating the same problems that have created permanent underclasses throughout Central and South America.

THe Democrats aren't without fault, but at least they have a track record of supporting causes and legislation that directly benefit the other 98%.

Both parties are the same???

Hardly.

If you really do believe that, count yourself as a part of the problem.

What happens in your mind when the person says that little word – even before they say anything else?

However we rationally respond our emotional response is to ignore everything that went before the ‘but’ and to focus on what comes after it – instinctively we recognise that this is what they really think, feel or intend.

‘But’ negates whatever precedes it

The word BUT negates or cancels everything that goes before it. And is generally accepted as a signal that the really important part of the sentence is coming up.

When you use it most people listening to you will give more attention and more weight to what you say after you say BUT. This tiny little word is widely misused…

As for the John Ashe/David Ng case, Mr. Ashe was implicated in accepting bribes from Ng in order to lobby the UN to build an annex in China.

John Ashe's testimony before the Feds had nothing at all to do with illegal campaign donations to the Clintons.

So why would Hillary and Bill kill him by dropping a barbell on his neck??

I got a family member who is conservative but they're family so there's nothing I can do there.
Outside of that absolutely not. I've begun to see your politics and what you're willing to vote for says so much about you. If you're willing to vote for people who are literally against funding education food and housing programs while cutting taxes for people who don't need it says a lot about you as a person. It shows either complete ignorance or complete selfishness either way I have no room for that in my personal life. It's like hanging out with a "cool" Nazi.

 

Best friend is a extreme liberal and we battle but stay respectful. I feel that real men and women can be respectful of a different viewpoint agree to disagree and move on. I have extreme conservative friends and we are the same way. I have atheist friends that are the same way as well. Agree to disagree stay respectful and everything is fine. We all usually do this over a drink.

Differing ideals is all it is. If you let that shit destroy friendships then you were never really friends in the first place. And if you hold animosity to a family member over that shit then there is definitely something wrong with you IMO

 

I have 'friends' who are moderate conservatives, mostly economic.
The kind of people who can keep a whole crew on budget on a road trip and make sure we all have a couple hundred in cash in our pockets on the way back home.lol

But no, I don't think I could be friends with a hardline conservative because IMO their world view is too upside down compared to mine.

When politics has the public to the point where some people can't even be friends and puts rifts in families then they truly have a stranglehold on the populace.

I live in IL - one of the most democrat states in the union. Our congress is super-majority democrat and has been that way for DECADES. The city of Chicago has been run by democrats for decades.

Illinois is one of the worst, if not THE worst, state in the union in terms of bankruptcy. Chicago is one of the worst cities in terms of bankruptcy.

The democrats (and to a lesser extent past republican governors - they're both to blame) have DECIMATED the pension funds of teachers, etc. We have some of the highest taxes in the country to try and cover JUST the pension pitfalls of past administrations.

Chicago has NO ONE TO BLAME BUT THE DEMOCRATS. Yet, they STILL vote for them because, you know, the democrats are the party of the people.

You want to call Republicans vile. I say democrats are JUST AS VILE.

Both parties suck and NEITHER party is for the people. They're for themselves and occasionally will pass a law that helps the "little people", but not until their pockets are lined by lobbyists.

The political system in this country is disgustingly broken. Anyone who wants to defend where our government is currently at right now will get no traction with me.

An extreme or radical liberal is entirely different than a hardline right winger.

IMO it's much easier to be friends with someone who aspires to have the tolerance and compassion for humanity of Jesus Christ, as opposed to a right winger who believes, "GREED IS GOOD", thinks the federal government should be abolished and wants to eliminate all entitlement programs for the poor.

There's just no comparison.

Hardcore lefties would give you ALL that they have so others could have something. THey don't believe anyone should be poorer than somebody else.


Hard right conservatives believe is social darwinism and survival of the fittest and think there should be a poor and an underclass in all societies because in capitalism there are always WINNERS and LOSERS.
