Lol..ten bucks the kid who complained wasn't even Mexican. Seriously... A few years ago l heard on the news a Greek man griped and l think even filed a lawsuit, against Black Greek Picnic day in Philadelphia. Said using Greek letters is disrespecting our culture. I said... STFU and be proud and honored that BP want to celebrate their Fraternities and Sororities reflecting Greek lettering. It's like in my travels in Europe (& Aust), when l meet non-Greeks ( especially Black people) who can speak to me in Greek..Omg, it bursts my heart that they chose to learn it and enjoy speaking it. If l was Mexican, I'd LOVE that my College celebrated Cinco De Mayo with me.
Since Greek is a culture and not a race, that'd be a big fat MOSTLY. Go to Greece and see.. we come in an array of gorgeous complexions.
They are mostly of middle east and Europe....there nothing African (black people ) about it So why are we so quick to adopt something that has nothing to do with us. We could've easily gone with African tribe frats.
Make your own soriority how you see fit. No one is stopping you. Maybe you and hetero can be the founding members.
Just for you, boo-boo :yawinkle: ... Greek, black and proud: the village in Greece with African roots The African origins of a rural community in Thrace Black Greeks
To add on....greeks hate the fuck out us so why? We should ve went African and not greek. Hell if you have to search hard to find greeks that look like me then fuck it let's be real you are trying too hard. Let's get our African tribal names as frats..
The village of Avato, in the northeastern prefecture of Xanthi, is home to a unique community whose ancestors are believed to have come to Greece from Sudan during Ottoman rule /____________________ You proved my point. In the title it says believed to be descendents of greeks...they don't know But they are in Africa. Like I said, if I have to work that hard to be greek you are reaching. I know without any doubt that my descendants are from Africa.
