The fall of Roger Ailes: He made Fox News his ‘locker room’ — and now women are telling their stories

One day in early June, an embattled but determined news anchor, a public relations man and a group of attorneys settled into chairs around the conference table on the 35th floor of a law office on Madison Avenue in Manhattan.

Gretchen Carlson’s tenure as an on-air host at Fox News was imperiled, and she knew it. For the previous nine months she’d been quietly meeting with attorneys to craft a sexual-harassment lawsuit against her boss, the all-powerful Fox News chairman, Roger Ailes. Now she was almost ready to go public with her allegation that Ailes had sabotaged her career because she wouldn’t have sex with him. But questions ricocheted around the room.

What would be the fallout? How would this be perceived? How would it play?

“We knew Fox was a high-powered, very potent machine that would go into full attack mode,” recalled Carlson’s public relations agent, Allan Ripp, who was meeting his client for the first time that day. “But she was resolved.”

Within weeks, Carlson would be out of a job, and a cascading series of events, unfolding with dizzying speed, would culminate in the public shaming and resignation this week of Ailes, one of the most influential executives in American television history, as well as a primary architect of the modern-day Republican Party and conservative movement. News of Carlson’s firing, and the lawsuit she filed shortly thereafter, have now prompted 25 women to come forward with what they describe as similar harassment claims against Ailes that stretch across five decades back to his days in the 1960s as a young television producer, according to Carlson’s attorney, Nancy Erika Smith.

I read today's NYT piece about this. The entire organization including Fox Business is ripe with it. FHet,no question in my mind of the face, chest, and leg time of the female Fox commentators like say Kimberly Guilfoyle and other gave in to Ailes.

Roger Ailes once said that he would love to give Sarah Palin a show because he thinks that she's hot. With all this going on at Fox News, it's not a far stretch to believe that the women on the network were probably given the casting couch routine. I'm glad that the women are coming forward.

Me too G. Ailes leaving would be best but, hope the Dems will know his expertise on character assassination on the Trump team. Both powerful men who chase tail.

fuck em..those are the same bitches that broadcast that Black Lives Matter is a racist hate group and literally play devil advocates when black people are murdered by cops. Now they want sympathy for harassment????

They knew what the deal was when they were hired there. They knew ailes was hiring them more for their looks than any qualifications they may have and understood and played into it with the tight dresses and short cut outfits..fucks that got to do with the news anyway? If you notice the ONLY type of women fox news ever hired were very pretty and mostly blonde meanwhile all the men look like various stages of the crypt keeper. Thats NOT a coincidence.

and after umpteen years of playing the game NOW they play victim?? FOH. They are as much victims as they believe trayvon martin, eric garner, sandra bland and anyone else harassed and killed by the system are victims.

I have as much sympathy for gretchen carlson and megan kelly as they have for BLM and black people in general.

    so fuck em twice

    This.

But, to be fair, I have issues with what's considered "sexual harassment" anyway. All I really know is these chicks never missed an opportunity to kick the victims of muderous police officers when they were at their lowest or denigrate Obama and his family at every turn. Now we're supposed to rally behind them? Sorry, I'm not that good of a person. Faux News spokesmodels get zero sympathy from me either.

This is the kind of thing that's perfectly acceptable in the "great" America they want to go back to. So, they need to shut up their pretty little faces, go in the kitchen to make sandwiches and go back to making old, racist, white guys and house negroes feel good about themselves again.

Anyhoo...yesterday l was listening to Radio Row at the Convention and Roger Ailes was spotted.
He then approached one of the surprised hosts who asked him "What are you doing here??" Roger replied, "Well, I'm just taking a few days off, taking in the landscape, the atmosphere". So the host asked his opinion of the speeches the previous night...Ailes replied "They were great, especially that Eva Longoria, wow is she looking good, or what!"

The host quickly diverted to another question, to which Ailes then interrupted him because he noticed Sharon Stone and said "Oh look, there's Sharon Stone! oh I want to go see her, I have to go, thank you!" and promptly left. :smt037
It was SYH hilarity. The man can not control his desires.

You know there must have been a ton of dirt on Roger Ailes collected over the years by the women he sexually harassed just to resign out of the blue.
