I am just as nauseated by this as you, but NY has its own illustrious history: Abner, Amadou, Sean, etc... It isn't unique to FL.

And there aren't that many southern whites left south of Fort Pierce, anyway. You hear more NY accents than southern twang from Palm Beach south.

Three quick successive shots were fired. Not one.
He will be fired, believe that. He will be charged as well. Even if he negligently fired/misfired ( based on his "l don't know" response), he will still be charged. Clearly any civilian, cop or child could see the situation as it was -- non threatenening. I don't think there is a police officer in this country that ISN'T stdh at this stupid officer. I also bet dollars to donuts he is not a vet cop. As I have said before, l speak to vet cops through my employment and they have told me these new gung-ho cops on the block dont know how to diffuse situations. They have their finger on the cocked gun.
Where is the cop who fired the shots? HE needs to explain himself. What ISN'T needed is you feeling running away is the best solution. (l need you ..alive and debating on here with me).

Nor do we need a bunch of psycho footsoldiers going on random police rampages in some absurd sense of "retaliation".

And then the mostly or all-white jury will apply the "reasonable person" standard and agree that a police officer is reasonable in his/her fear of black propensity for violence, no matter what position the black person is in, up to and including unarmed and immobile with hands in the air.

I don't think that will happen. We all saw what we saw. Same thing that he/she cop did. No excuse.

The victim's lawyer said yesterday he is already in talks with the police and city, and they are close to a monetary deal for his client. I hope he gets to enjoy the rest of his life in peace..i'm sure he is still in shock over it.

Off-Duty NYPD Officer Shoots, Kills Man Who Pummeled Him During Road Rage Confrontation: Police

A man was shot and killed by an off-duty NYPD officer early Monday morning during a traffic dispute in Brooklyn, police said.

The off-duty cop shot 37-year-old Delron Dempsey after Dempsey allegedly got out of his car and began punching the officer in the head during the dispute around midnight in East New York, according to police. But family members disagreed with the NYPD's account, saying Dempsey was shot "on impulse" and was defending his brother.

Police said they received a call of an officer in need of assistance shortly after midnight on Sunday. The off-duty officer was driving his 2002 Nissan Altima east on Atlantic Avenue when he got involved in the dispute with Dempsey.

The two men stopped their cars at a red light at Bradford Street when Dempsey got out of his 2016 Kia EX and went up to the officer, who was still seated in his vehicle. Police say Dempsey then punched the officer repeatedly in his head through the car window.

The officer fired his weapon an unknown number of times during the assault, police said, and Dempsey was shot. He died at the scene.
The officer was taken to Jamaica Medical Center with contusions to his head. He is expected to recover.

Dempsey's relatives were at the scene of the shooting Monday morning and they later said that they have hired an attorney.

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says his office is "actively reviewing the case."

Ali Dempsey said his brother lives in Jersey City but grew up in East New York. He said Delron was visiting his girlfriend, their newborn baby and her two teenagers.
He said witnesses said the officer shot "on impulse." He also defended his brother, saying that he left his car because he didn't want to argue in front of his family.

"The only reason he got out of the car was because the family was in the car. He was concerned. He wanted to question the guy, like, what's your angle?" Dempsey said. "And that was his angle... he killed him."

Ali Dempsey said he's a lifelong resident of the neighborhood and has never experienced anything like this before.
"It's very disturbing. I've never been through none of this in my whole life," he said.

Dempsey's girlfriend and kids were taken to a police station.
Law enforcement sources told NBC 4 New York that the officer was assigned to the 79th Precinct and was a three-year veteran of the force. He had no prior disciplinary proceedings.

Dempsey had 19 prior arrests, the sources said.
A significant stretch of Atlantic Avenue was closed off to traffic early Monday morning as the NYPD's Force Investigation Division investigated the shooting. Stores on the surrounding streets were also closed.
Detectives are trying to figure out the nature of the traffic dispute and how it escalated.

I was looking for particular thread in response to Goodlove8 yesterday but noticed a pattern with Bliss

Out of the hundreds of police brutality threads, she's only posted one which reinforces the stereotype that white people care about pets more than blacks.

Stop lying, with your weirdo ass. Now scramble to try to save face when it's mad apparent you are only here to spread misery, diversion, and feed your fetish with black men.

I thought "Blackish" did a very powerful, insightful while still being funny, episode on this whole issue...

It's mad frustrating man! I've always spoke highly of Pittsburgh police, they do a upstanding job which should be mirrored across the country but after seeing so much police brutality go unchecked across the country for the past years, I'm starting to lose hope.

I thought this was funny as a kid, now that I'm older I see this joke was truth wrapped with a smile.

I read this story earlier today in The Independent

I am absolutely gobsmacked, if this is what passes as a Police Officer then I can see why people have had a gutful of it.

How on earth did you become a teacher again, seriously?

Nope, the thread was thug govt cops which I replied to you in. SMH, calm down and stop being so emotional. I felt our discussion would be better discussed in another thread and I also did not want to give that weirdo who gets off on dividing people satisfaction of keeping that thread alive.

You sitting here being coonish laughing at her lame attempts of humor while she shits on you behind your back but tap on if that's what makes you feel good.
