Thanks for posting that. I saw they finally cleared that up on the news. No senseless killing justifies another another senseless killing. I hope Sterling, Castile, as well as the officers, receive some measure of justice.
Did you really try to justify your expectation of retaliation, by implying l am niave? Four DALLAS cops and counting were murdered in cold blood tonight because of the actions of two Louisiana cops and one Minneapolis cop. What the fuck did they have to do with them?Because they chose a career in law enforcement? Because they dutifully secured the safety of Dallas citizens who were protesting? It's so damn easy to dismiss the horror of this ambush "because you expected it" and it happened in NY. At least that fucktard got the city right. You should be shocked and disgusted that two killers decided to murder cops IN ANOTHER CITY!
When stuff like this first happens, people always jump the gun (no pun intended) and you can expect more then a few false reports.
What part of my expectations that someone was going to retaliate was wrong? Sometimes when you see patterns, you call them as you see them. How can I be surprised if I know what is going to happen?
It's not people. The Dallas PD put out the APB. With a warning do not approach him. They since released a statement, but did not absolve him yet. It's unusual. "Earlier Thursday, Dallas police circulated a photo of a person of interest in the crime earlier in the night. They say that man has since turned himself in, in addition to the suspect who was in a shootout with DPD officers."
Agreed. Especially since we have people that are paid to think like this to keep us safe. That's what people in my line of work do all the time.
Dude will be dead or in prison! just want to add I didn't justify my expectations. I expect something to happen when there is a history of it. Just because there is a history of something does not mean that the event is morally just or not disgusting. I am glad you asked though. I also do think that one is naive if an event has happen before and they can't predict that it will happen again. People don't buy guns because they think everyone is a saint and there will never be a time to use it. They buy guns because they have seen patterns that didn't go well and have an expectation it may not go well for them without a gun which is why I doubt you to be so naive. Some where in your head you had to have predicted something bad was going to happen? no?
Damn it! Killing black people for the hell of it isn't the answer. It's just going to make things worse.
Oh, for fucks sake. I'M A BLACK AMERICAN MAN, YOU DON'T THINK I CARE ABOUT MY PEOPLE BEING SHOT LIKE DOGS? Killing cops in retaliation is only going to make us less safe.
The police already have an impression that black people are dangerous. I don't think this is going to change that. What it does do is put them on guard in pursuing cases. You might be less likely to pursue something if you think it may get you on the news or killed.....which would have saved the last two guys and these current officers. Mean thing to say but that is what happened in NYC for a short time.
As was your statement. Agreed!. And it's also going to severely dilute the message that was so getting through. Heck even cops were calling out cops. But not now. Consider also future protests. They will possibly be deemed a public and police safety hazzard.
Apparently reports suggest the snipers were using AK-47's based on the mag rounds. Cue Obama's press conference on gun banning. Will be waiting.
If these vigilante shootings put the fear of God into local law enforcement nationwide and gets dirty cops finally charged, convicted and sent to prison, then raw violence did something the 'system' could not. When White America thought this country was on the verge of a race war and major American cities going up in flames in the 1960s and '70s, violence brought about substantive legal and political changes. Sometimes the powers in control need to be sent a stronger message than another mother/GF crying on TV and a bunch of 20somethings marching in circles. Everyone says there's a problem with the corrupt culture of American law enforcement. Corruption doesn't automatically change its ways out of a sense of justice and morality. Cops, their unions, district attorneys and local politicians have to SEE it's in their own best interest to stop defending cops who murder innocent civilians. It's not always enough to stand up to a bully to make him stop whupping your ass. Sometimes you have to swing a bat upside the head of your tormenter for them to get the message to stop fucking with you. No one is advocating killing cops in cold blood, but fuck, GENERATIONS of Black people have been raised to beware of the police...because an angry cop will shoot you down for no good reason and nobody will do a damn thing about it. When I think about the thousands of Black men over the decades who were executed by cops across this country and nobody really except Black folk gave a damn, I just don't have the tears for a cop shot in the line of duty. Every cop IMO works for quasi criminal organization. When you do dirt to people and don't think anyone can touch you, you cheapen your own life. Every Black man I know was taught growing up, be careful how you talk to cops. Just talk. Because as Black men, we KNOW if we simply say the wrong thing to the wrong asshole cop who's armed, that could be our funeral. Just think about this, Freddie Gray was arrested without cause by Baltimore police, was held in police custody for ONE HOUR and he ended up with a broken neck that severed his spine and killed him. So far in that case there have been two acquittals and one mistrial. Not one of those cops will be held accountable. Because that's how the 'system' is set up, to allow cops to legally murder Black folk. People are acting like cops murdering Blacks with impunity started in the 2000s.:smt104 This shit have been going on since we got freed from slavery.
