Most house slaves did not get an education. Rarely did they own property free and clear, since they were, you know, STILL SLAVES.
Not all house slaves were light skinned.

You need to specify if you're talking about 'colored' Black folk in Louisiana who were often granted free status by their slavemasters, and random house slaves in the anetebellum South.

Jack and Jill, brown bag test, etc;, that was ALL Black folk hating on themselves and attempting to replicate White culture by inventing artificial class distinctions.

The fact is still the same, as soon as any light skinned Negro started feeling themselves and wanted to be treated on equal status as White Americans, his or her ass was beaten back down to the bottom.


Some house slaves WERE indeed treated better, but usually because they were the direct offspring of the slavemaster.

Subjugating your own flesh and blood to the status of livestock isn't a better life to me.

White folk more or less lump anyone who has Black ancestry into the same category.

More often than not WE Black folk are the ones who perpetuate the cultural preference for light skin.

What are you talking about? In my examples of immigrants I didn't use black people as an example and not every black person in the US was descended from slaves in this country. A lot of our families chose to come here just like other immigrants.

 

When you're saying 10% of your rights vs 5% of your rights is basically the same thing then yes you are saying there is no difference when you're literally show there's a 5% difference. And in the race and colorism game the difference is usually much bigger. Do you see a working class white person who has 20% more rights than a working class black person as different?

 

1. I never said all house slaves got an education I said often and in some cases owned property which is far better than their field slave counterparts who for the most part, unless done in secret, never got any of these privileges.

The colorism system may have been self imposed but it didn't happen in a vacuum, whether it was because the light skinned slaves were the product of the slave master or not there was preferential treatment given to lighter skin people and everyone saw it. And sorry to burst your bubble but white people have often told me that lighter skin black people came across as far less threatening to them, hell look at our women who do they often hold up as pretty. Lupita and Naiomi are rare occurrences. Look at the OJ trial they often made him darker on the cover of magazines, not black people but whites who found the image of a darker black person more threatening.

White men are not discriminated on skin color /race. They are at 110+% . Because fair is everyone being at 100%. Privilege is when you have MORE because others are denied opportunity.
