The majority of shows on the major tv channels are still very white and not extremely or exceedingly Black, or any other non-white ethnicity. (See definition below.)

Clearly there are shows out there (actors, reporters, etc) I just don't see it as being "very integrated". (Again see definition below)

Who else is speaking out like Jessie Williams fam. Show me the other black people in the spotlight who make specific points about the devaluation of black bodies and who go to places like Ferguson and Cleveland to protest who are as outspoken as he is. Who also have an almost all white fan base carrying them but actually speak out the way he does. I get he has a certain amount of light skin privilege but that shouldn't in no way diminish the actual real work dude is doing. I pay such close attention to this shit and its not like Jessie Williams is one famous voice out of many, he stands almost alone. Most of them live the "new black" lifestyle where as long as they are getting money they could give a fuck less about what's happening to other black people. I really suggest you seek out and watch more of the times he speaks out. Before he was an actor he was a teacher who got his degree in African American studies from Temple, he isn't doing this shit for attention he's literally always been like this.

While he may be a "preferred minority with his blue eyes and light skin", that doesn't mean that those who are lighter skinned and light eyes don't get followed around the stores or shot by cops. Those cops who are quick to shoot aren't saying oh well this one is a bit lighter so we aren't going to pull the trigger. If you really think they are, I have several friends who have lost their biracial sons to those bullets very recently who would certainly not agree with you. Granted I may be a bit sensitive to the subject given that I have spent many hours with some of these parents who's children were murdered.

Yes let's keep it 100. Don't you think it's important to acknowledge the reality is this happens to darker and lighter. Don't you think it's important to address the issues and not get into infighting about this hue vs that? Are the issues any less valid if it's coming from someone who's lighter skin with lighter eyes?

I'm asking the questions not to be snide but instead to say, it's easy to sit and rag about how someone who did stand up and say something may not have said it in the perfect spot, in the perfect way, or as the perfect representative...but isn't there something to be said about doing so. I notice there are many more who may fit in those choice positions who are not. It's really easy to pick apart those who take the risk and stand up, but I don't see anyone who's complaining taking the risks to do something about these issues.

The truth is none of us know the answers. If we did, the issues would be solved. It's going to take people stepping up to do things that are outside the norm to figure out what will work.

The level of fear....I get what you are saying. However, the "preferred minorities" have their own issues (from both sides). I just don't know how productive it is to get into the who's got it worse arguments.
