Time for America to leave Okinawa?

No doubt the rich people got most of the land in the Canal Zone.

 

Do you know how much "rape prevention education" that's continuously given to these troops? Do you know how hard the military gets on troops just for one person getting a DUI out of an entire squadron?? Not only can they take your liberty, but they can take your off days, ALL of them, and there is nothing you can do about it. Doesn't matter if you didn't fuck up the CO can punish all of you for one guys mistake. I've had that happen to me, that really sucks. Yet people will be people and they will continue to fuck up. And how in the hell do you stop someone from killing if you are not clairvoyant? You've been watching too much minority report.

The fact that someone has to be told not to rape or murder anyone once they leave base is really ridiculous.

You want reduce the incidence of rape in Okinawa, you make sure we have our military personnel working at the bars, clubs and hotels where soldiers frequent and have MPs located outside AND randomly patrolling these locations with Japanese police.

The U.S. military in general has a problem with sexual assault among its own troops, but if they don't do something proactive in Japan, you're going to have soldiers end up being killed in retaliation.

The Japanese aren't protesting the most recent rape and murder of a 20 year old woman because it was a one time thing, rapes in Okinawa by U.S. troops has been happening for decades and most go unreported.

If you really want to cut down on heinous crimes committed by our troops abroad, you tell any soldier if they're charged with rape or murder in a foreign country, they will be tried and convicted in that country.

I don't have the stats, but I would bet the incidence of rape and murder of civilians by our troops on domestic military bases is much lower than it is abroad.

 

The military already does similar things that you've mentioned. You dont have to tell me how rediculous it is to have to teach people not to rape when I had to sit in the trainings and watch dumb films and have discussions about it just like everyone else. To me it's just common sense but not everyone has it.

Even in Pensacola the military has guys (civilians) that can call the base when someone from the military gets out of line in a club and that person goes to captains mask to face charges when he gets back. Because good leaders don't want other people punishing their people. I don't know if I can explain that to you if you don't get it. Especially in the military where you view one another as family. What if someone in your family did something wrong would you rather handle it or let someone else do it? When I was a leader in the military (most of us were at some point) I didn't even want other sailors punishing my guys. Hated when that happened but somethings are out of your control.

You have to be your "brothers keeper" in the military other wise it doesn't work. If you have a "liberty buddy" in another country and he is hung over at some chicks house in a foreign country refusing to leave even tho the ship is about to sail, you knock that motherfucker out and make him go back to the ship with you. Otherwise you will get in trouble if you miss the ship or go back without him.

 

A good example is in how the the Italians handled their own when they fucked up. That's how they were able to keep the police out of their neighborhoods. They had their own system of policing even though they were breaking the law.

If they had to handle someone they did it quickly and even stepped up to take care of that persons family. No need for outsiders to step in and handle issues with their people. Obviously it worked well for them.
