If North Korea ever does something foul outside of their own borders, Asians will become the next big bad again, like they were during WWII, Korean War & Vietnam War era.

Not playing devil's advocate, but when is the last time you heard of a Christian doing a mass killing in the name of Christ? Abortion clinic?

In no way do I support Trump, but I still don't like the way this country is going. We (The US) have entered deadly game that has the potential to put us at war for the next few hundred years. We will not get out of this in our life times. You can quote me on this. Certain groups have been warring for 100s of years and they show no sign of slowing down.

Muslims have been taking a foothold, slowly, but surely in every part of the word. Like Christians, they are to spread the word...the only difference is that they actually do it. Don't believe me?...check and see how may new temples mosques/temples have sprung up in the last year. The thing about it is that they pop up and, unlike a church, the buy all of the property all around it.

...The U.S. needs to curb the purchase of property all together. We had a huge lawsuit just recently with China who had purchased thousands of acres to do what they wanted with it. The thing is, we can't properly police that land. You end up with all kinds of things going on in your own backyard and you don't know it. The US is going to end up getting hosed from the inside as will Europe.

They are also procreating at a rate that dwarfs everyone else. It means that eventually their numbers will allow them to play by the rules and outvote everyone else.

We don't need Trump in office for certain. I think his winning the office will cause more attacks on the U.S. I do ask you this...how are we going to curb or halt what's going on in this country? At what point are we going to say enough is enough in regards to immigration, declining morals and a fair court system?

There's roughly 3 million Muslims in this country.
In a country of 300 million.

I don't care what their birthrates are, they aren't going to disrupt the demographic status quo in the United States.

Immigration is a endless pipleline for the U.S. and it's never going to be shut down, nor should it.
My stance on immigration is we need better controls on how many people we bring into this country, not so much about where they're from.

We already have undisclosed restrictions on how many Muslims we allow into this country legally through immigration.

IMO it's just extremely difficult to be an Islamic fundamentalist in the United States.

First generation Muslim immigrants might be orthodox, but almost every single one of their children is going to be at best a moderate Muslim.

And their children's children are very unlikely to have any tint of radicalism at all.

The sooner we defeat groups like ISIL and Al Qaeda, the less we have these symbolic groups abroad that provide inspiration for disaffected Muslim young men living in the West.

Europe unfortunately does a terrible job at assimilating immigrants.
The United States is just the opposite.

The power and influence of American popular culture within America, which includes social mores and beliefs, is every bit as strong as any religious faith.

It's simply hard to be a pious Muslim growing up and living in America, because unless you literally isolate yourself you will be changed on a daily basis by the dominant culture.

Privately, IMO most Muslims who emigrate to the West know there are ideological deficits in their religion which is why few of them leave their countries to go live in predominantly Islamic nations.

Human rights, civil rights, the right to privacy, freedom of religion, freedom of speech, the freedom to love and marry whomever you want, the opportunity to pursue higher education and achieve gainful employment, the ability to legally drink alcohol and soon to be marijuana etc, are all roadside bombs helping to destroy any strains of radical Islam in the USA.

America is a nation of people of whom many still believe in a higher power, but the reality is Americans become less religious generation after generation in this country, not more so.

Look what happened to Christmas. It's almost become a secular holiday, with it becoming all about the fat man in the red suit and white beard and less about the birth of baby Jesus.

In 100 years, I bet almost every American will have a tree set up in their living room with presents under it.

Long term the only way to defeat radical Islam is to support moderate political movements in the Middle East and promote more secular, quasi democratic governments like there are in Turkey and Indonesia; two Islamic countries that don't produce Islamic terrorists.

Another thing that needs to happen is the U.S. needs to divest itself from Saudi Arabia tomorrow. They are the major proponents of radical Islam worldwide and the ones who privately finance the construction of so many mosques you see across this country.

An unintended consequence of developing alternative and green energy is that it will ultimately weaken and diminish the stature of radical Islamist states like Iran and SA.

Radical Islam simply does not have the power or reach to destroy the United States from the inside.

In Europe, its the first generation who do their best to assimilate. To work and raise their family. And who seem to appreciate what the European country has to offer them.
Its the children and grandchildren who are didaffected.
But in Europe the numbers are much greater and they don't often have to assimilate. About 25 % of the population of Brussells is muslim. The defacto capital of the European Union.
And some want to transplant their culture to the adopted country.
Even to the point of replacing the culture and beliefs of the adopted country.
Thus the huge growth in right wing political groups in countries like Austria, Denmark, France, etc
And its the biggest issue in the U.K. referendum on leaving the European Union.

I'm visiting Philly and I currently reside in a muslim household. For the most part, everyone is cool. The whole area has changed. I can walk for blocks and blocks and tthe majority of the neighborhood is muslim. I think everyone in the neighborhood knows me through chatter at the center, but I'm not sure how they really view me (eventhough they wave) and I'm not sure it's bad or as someone who should be recruited.

It's true that muslims make up a small percentage of hte US. So did Hispanics 20 years ago. Islam is the 2nd largest and fastest growing religion in the world. It's growing at twice the speed of Christianity. Lots of people are tired of Christianity. The world in general just loves the holidays. However, birthing 1 child more than other women and the constant and loyal attendance to prayer is something not all Christians have.

Additionally, some groups are way smarter than the average american...especially when someone is leading them. That's another loophole with the US...the way the voting system works...votes don't weigh the same so thinkers move themselves to states that have more voting power. It's a slow process, but it does work and effectively.

The US has a serious effect on the world, but there are lots of people who view it's influence as bad...very bad. Those people are young and old. They don't like the ideology that the US is force feeding down everyone's throat. We lost control of the Panama Canal, a major base in the Philippines, Guantanamo and Cuba is getting ready to be back online. The Chinese have scooped the Panama Canal (so drugs and major weapons are moving again), The Chinese and Russians are putting a whooping on the Philippines and other small Nations that used to be protected by the military stationed in that area. Chinese had already positioned themselves in Africa. Cubans were displaced in parts of Africa...it won't be long before the Chinese and Russians are back in Cuba - 80 miles from the US which is why Cuba got in trouble in the 1st place (Russian weapons/missiles in Cuba - 80 miles from the US). Not to mention, releasing men who, if they weren't terrorist, are now hell bent on fucking the US up for doing all the illegal crap they could do where no rules applied (Guantanamo).

The US is doing poorly for the most part. Some really unconscious moves by Obama and many by the invisible powers in the US. All the freedoms that we have, and give, are serving as loopholes or those who want to change our system, while the majority of America's citizens are worried about starbucks and getting more bang for their buck. It isn't until something goes sideways that they point their finger at the gov't and say, "It's your fault." No, it's The American citizens fault for not safeguarding their way of life.

I can't speak on the UK's problems, but when you have countries on one continent it is hard to keep an eye on who's moving where. We shouldn't have that problem in the US, but we do. We are surrounded by oceans and our only landbased neighbors are Mexico, Canada and a small channel of water separates Russia...but it is in an unoccupied frozen tundra. However, the US will let anyone through their borders with the exception of Haitians, who seem to be the only ones the gov't deports. Africans come to the US by the masses as they are sponsored by other Africans who have come here and done well.

Currently, there are the refugee deals. Where every modern country has to do their part/show good will towards individuals/foreigners being run out of their country by war or murder. The US is set to grow exponentially in the future. The bad thing is that we don't know who we let in or what their beliefs are.

Trump is weighing in on the conscious American citizens who are paying attention to these things. Since the US is +/-70% white it appears that those folks are racially motivated and some of them are, but I bet if you could break down that 70% it would be cut in half those who are prejudice and those who just want to take care of Americans or think we shouldn't be involved in policing the world.

All of these things taking place (religous freedom, medical drug exploitation/dependency, removing God from everything, science based/genetic food and patents, home schooling...forcing the gay agenda, medical advances, racism...even the adoration of zombies and witchcraft on TV...in the next 60-100 years or so, this will create the perfect storm. It's the cumulation of all these things that will bring this country to it's knees and, as you already saw with the US housing market failing in the 2000s...global economies everywhere are affected by the capitalistic nature of the US. Once it falls, that shit is gonna be like dominoes and it's gonna cast the whole world backwards and into some serious shit. Major warring to fight (have have nots)...then, No or rationed power, not enough water, not enough food...thats going to ripple the world into lawlessness, disease, military/private armies, death and poverty.

...who knows?...maybe it will really be the Apocalypse/end of days.

This is a canned message that is copied/pasted directly here. You didnt write this yourself. Just false propaganda from Your drinking the rightwingers coolaid. But not surprising coming from your expected moa. Everybody that actually follow real news and issues KNOW that. This is eye rolling worthy. Why dont You actually educate yourself on the issue, rather than regurgitating rightwingers propaganda

It was a different gun store owner who allegedly reported this guy to the FBI or the local authorities.

When the guy couldn't get what he wanted, he went to a different gun shop.

IMHO, the people at fault are the FBI. They investigated this guy 3-4 times a couple of years ago, but somehow he was allowed to keep his job as a security officer at a courthouse.

THAT is how he was able to easily purchase his guns, because of his job.

A job, IMHO, he shouldn't have been allowed to keep if he was investigated by the FBI.

If you want the FBI to constantly monitor guys with a similar profile to Mateen, and there are literally thousands of similar men whose only crime was knowing someone indirectly who left to fight for an islamist militant group, or said some inappropriate comments at work about 9/11, or surfed some radical islamist sites on the interwebz, you need to start funding the FBI like you do the Pentagon.

As far as I know Mateen had no prior criminal record and had no incidents at work.

You can't look past this shooting and not believe if the assault weapons ban was not allowed to lapse after Bill Clinton left office, it would have been virtually impossible for Omar Mateen to buy an AR15 with a high capacity cartridge magazine.

Mateen with a couple 9mm with a 9 round mag isn't coming close to killing 50 people.

We have weapons easily available for purchase that are specifically designed to commit mass murder.
That's not the fault of the FBI.

Sam Jackson said it best in Jackie Brown;

The AR15 is the mass killing weapon of choice for psychopaths in the U.S.
It will happen again somewhere before Thanksgiving.
And again next year.

It has nothing to do with radical islam, the problem is the gun culture in the U.S. is empowering nut jobs to act on their depravity.

Very fair and balanced opinion piece. You look at all sides. Very refreshing on this board.

Btw on your Philly comment..l have noticed the shift here too in the last 20 years...it is very recent though. From middle-eastern Islamic attired crowds in parking lots, at bus stops, at malls, as business proprietors, Islamic restaurants, to Islamic attired workers...followers have increased exponentially.
