So if we call them radical Muslims then will they stop killing? No. The proper name for them is terrorist just like the rest (the kkk and so and so forth)
A label has nothing to do with how effective it is in stopping someone's actions. It's like saying that calling a pedophile a pedophile isn't going to stop them from fucking children.
They indeed were assigned the Christian context. Repeatedly, and with vilification and disdain. The media had, and has absolutely no filter in associating the aforementioned terrorists with radical Christianity.
I've heard the KKK described as a hate group, but never as 'radical Christians' or 'Christian fundamentalists'. As soon as you fall intro the trap of associating these terrorists acts specifically with the Islamic faith, you're playing into the hands of the Muslim radicals who want there to be a WAR between the West and ALL of Islam. That's why it's so dangerous when Trump calls for a ban on all Muslims coming into the country, instead of blocking access to those Muslims with suspected terrorist affiliations. I have no doubt there are neo-cons who would love to make war with all of Islam, to replace the global threat posed by the Soviets during the Cold War. The military industrial complex needs a new bogeyman for Americans to fear and contractors to get rich off the bloodshed.
I dont recall anyone saying that such violence was the "true nature of Christianity" and vilifying all Christians. No presidential candidate was calling for a complete ban on Christian immigration. Those evil individuals were rightly described as terrorists who subscribed to their own perverted ideas of "Christianity" and had nothing to do with "real" Christianity. That's the difference between horrific, terrorist crimes committed by sick "Christian"s, and Muslim terrorist crimes.
Terrorists indeed, however you must know what you're looking for in that terrorist. If you want to live, of course.
From one of your links, saying exactly what I have been saying... "The outpouring of blatant Islamophobia and barely disguised racism coming from the right-wing in the wake of the Paris attacks is utterly despicable. Every time one of these attacks happen, conservatives insist on blaming the world’s 1.6 billion Muslims for their complicity, even though the majority of terrorist attacks are carried out against Muslim. American far right-wingers like Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) are calling for religious profiling of incoming refugees, because somehow being a Christian automatically removes the risk of terrorism – even though Christian right-wing terrorists in America have killed more people since 9/11 than Muslim terrorists have."
Then you have turned a blind eye to the opinions of Aetheists, Muslims and of course, the far left. Oh ans the association that they are (must be) REPUBLICAN Christian terrorists. Thetefore, what is good for the Geese...
One more thing about this paragraph that you chose to highlight... The author stated that statistics show (without showing any statistics) that more Christian Right-wing terrorists have killed in this country, than Muslim terrorists have, post 9/11. However, it's a flawed analogy. This country is majority Christian, thus the odds of a terrorist attack by radical Christians rises exponentially compared to those by Muslim terrorists -- if for no other reason than they were/are being monitored to a(n increased) degree since then. Rest assured that if Federal and local agencies were not on the lookout and profiling, there would be many, many more radical Islamic killers, and deaths of Americans.
Looks like we will have to agree to disagree, I will say it again, the religion itself, and all Christians are not blamed for the crimes of extremist Christians, but it is FAR more likely that Islam, and all Muslims are blamed for the crimes of extremist Muslims. I did not hear Trump call for a ban on all Christians after the S. Carolina church massacre. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...nd-church-services-pray-massacre-victims.html In addition, of course not all republicans are terrorists, but it is HIGHLY likely that domestic extremist Christian terrorists are also republican if they have any political leanings.
No, my point was that when such terrorists were described they were described as perverting Christianity, and that ALL Christians and the religion itself was not blamed for the horrible crimes.
You posted the source that did not show any statistics. Again, nobody is saying that we as a society should not be vigilant against radicalized terrorism from any group, what I am saying is that Islam and mainstream Muslims get FAR more unjust blame and association with the crimes of the radical jihadist terrorist than do other religions.
Mateen praised both Hezbollah and ISIS for his terror attack, two groups that are sworn enemies of each other. This was NOT an ISIS driven attack IMO. This slaughter was the byproduct of a self-hating, closeted gay man who no longer felt he had a place in Muslim society. Conveniently affiliating himself with ISIS was just a cover.
Back in the 80's, the KKK made the rounds on daytime talk shows. During their time onstage, they told the studio and viewing audience the following: 1. They were proud, upstanding white Americans. 2. They are a Christian organization. 3. They are a crime fighting organization. I understood the first part. But scoffed at the second and third parts. To be a Christian, one has to be Christian-like. Jesus Christ didn't hate anyone, not even those who persecuted and turned their backs on him. Jesus loves everyone. The KKK love only men, women and children of the white race. The only crime they fight is those that they hate like interracial dating and marriage. They protect their community from all outside influences like drug dealers and the like(those crimes perpetrated by minorities). A few years ago, it was decided by law enforcement agencies that if someone erectus a cross and sets it ablaze at a home or business, it is an act of terrorism. The KKK argued that the flaming cross was a part of the Klan's traditions. The Klan still burn a cross at their gatherings and rallies.
Agreed! Some of the worse people in this country (you'll find many are Trump supporters) are condoning (some committing) some horrible stuff under the guise of being a christian.
