All people "test" each other. Men do it just as much as women do. Especially if you are equating sizing the other person up as "testing".

I don't really think asking questions about a person's life is testing them though. If you are just getting to know someone, you're going to ask each other questions. I do think with all the online stuff, people get into the interview mode a lot.
