A place in someone's life where they are friends and nothing more than that. No chance of a fwb scenario whatsoever. This is at the discretion of the woman or man who excercises their decision about a person.

Maybe she's sensitive and doesn't want to hurt his feelings or make him feel rejected.

Sure, but it creates more of a problem and at best delays the inevitable.

What do they have to gain ? The best of both world that's what they have to gain. A male friend is the best of both worlds: She can reap all the benefits of having a man around (strength, decision-making, solid advice, logic, common sense, and so on) without the hormone-based entanglements that sex brings to the table.

But we men are different. Since we aren't saddled with psychologically crippling emotions. In fact, for us, it's just the opposite: When a man likes a woman, he naturally wants to express his feelings by drilling her deep into the mattress. This is natural.

Unfortunately, the female brain can't process this logic. Instead, it quickly "either-ors" any guy it encounters: Either he's going to be a lover or he's going to be a friend. And once a woman has relegated you to the "Friend Zone," it's all but impossible for her to see you in any other way.

    Opinions are like....

Some women are into numbers and translate that as popularity. Numbers means there's always a fallback plan in play. Men are happy if they're considered "cool," but a real egoist isn't going to really be friends with the "loosers" who idolize him. They have a small group of like minded individuals who are around them and even inside that group...there's a lot of sword fighting and jockeying for position.

I think it's easier for women to keep men around that they find unattractive than it is for men to keep unattractive women around. They have to maintain their facade of innocence plus they think with their big head...well, the only one they have. Men will allow their little head to take control. We (men) are the masters of "waivers" (you know what a waiver is?...that's when you make an exception).

Most of us guys don't want to get caught sleeping with a woman that we don't find attractive. Let alone, do an unattractive woman that we would consider a friend or associate. Do that and you've potentially created a "Cling-on" and the only way to fix that is pull a complete A-hole move that's gonna cause you to loose a bunch of friend points when she starts crying.

Most dudes aren't going to stay in the friendzone either. You get caught in the friendzone too long and you become a (1) Stalker, (2) Errand Boy or (3) Both!

Mind you, this is for young folks. I don't think there's a friendzone once you got past your mid 30s. By then you are smart enough to group the people around you properly because not everyone who speaks to you and hangs out with you is a friend. As a matter of fact, they usually won't go out of their way to do even a small favor for you. IJS
