It's so easy to get hooked on opiods if you're taking them for pain. All you want is the pain to stop and nothing else works but that. Also, there's that euphoric high you get when you take them. And, how bad can they be? My Dr. is giving them to me.

Then the dosage you're taking stops working.

So your doc ups your dosage and the cycle begins. You're addicted to ever increasing dosages of serious opiates because all you wanted was for the pain to stop and these did that. ... For a time.

 

The issue is that Opiods should not be prescribed to treat pain. It creates a horrible cycle (beyond what you described). Opiods create hyperalgesia. There are much better ways to manage pain. Fentanyl is one of the worst. His medical team failed him.

This is a huge issue in the US.

You are on opioids? That doesn't sound like something you should be sustaining. Hopefully not.

Yeah, the news tonight was talking about Fentanyl being stronger than Morphine. I never realized there was a pain killer out there that was stronger than morphine. You learn something new every day.

They also said that nearly 80 people have died this year in Illinois from Fentanyl overdose.

How awful.

Sometimes, they said on the news, it's mixed with heroin. Crazy.

 

Oh but big pharma profits ... and boats and jets and toasts ....

 

Basically

 

True indeed Pharma make the population junkies. Some are no better than the drug lords of Latin America and Asia.
