Is the term "Becky" racist against white women?

I never thought of it as a racist term. I thought it was just another term for a white girl because most girls named Beckys are white (at least that I know of). Kind of like how a white woman might say, 'I like brothas."

But, if white women find it racist, then it's racist. End of story. Im not going to tell a whole race of people what they should, or should not, find racist.

There seems to be a need to use terms to refer to groups of people. Different people are going to be offended by different things. Some think "snow bunny" "chocolate", "vanilla", etc (or the like) is really offensive, others don't. Maybe the person saying it intends it to be a term of endearment, maybe their intentions are insulting.

People will always use some type of slang and the meanings of which can be very different and also can change through time. Of course, there is always the PC police too.

On this situation with B....she has done what she has done to cause a stir and get attention. Plain and simple. It's all about keeping her relevant.

This is all that really needs to be said. I'd rep you but I gotta spread it around some more.

I bet before this all Beyonce hype, white chicks didn't even know that black chicks called them "Beckies." And now that they know, most probably don't care

White chicks don't care what black girls do

That, trying to get bigger asses, twerking, acting like a "thot" etc. The shit the media typically enjoys showing black women doing basically.

Some did, plenty in the younger demographic were aware of it. They loved it when Plies (a rapper) did a song called becky glorifying them. But, then when beyonce said it and didn't glorify them, it is now a big deal?

I personally don't like beyonce, but I am not buying this wishy washy shit.

Agreed. One of the reasons why racism is still relevant is because people justify being offensive towards someone, but will call you out if your being offensive.

Like I used to work with this really cute and adorable white woman, so nice to everyone. She got into an argument with this black man at work and he said something to the effect of "That's white people shit" in reference to her, she was offended, so she said "How would you feel If I said that's black people crap" (she didn't like to cuss.) He told her "you better not or I would punch you right in the eye." And to make it so bad the argument had nothing to do with race. He brought it up when he said that's "white people shit"

you wont believe it but i ve never heard that becky thing.. and funny enough i think if someone came up to me with becky i d have probably replied with nice to meet you my name is kerstin.
but joke aside. i ve been confronted with more racistic behaviours from different groups of ppl that were far more subtile and offensive.

It always amazes me that some people who are the most offended by racism directed towards them are so casually racist against other ethnic groups that piss them off.

You shouldn't have to explain to an adult in a professional setting what's wrong with saying, 'That's white people shit'.

If that man ended up unemployed because of his comment, he'd be confused for the rest of his life because he would never understand why he was fired.

Yeah and now I remember exactly what he called "white people shit". I worked in a grocery store a few years ago and It was because she kept organizing the things she was taking out of stock and putting them on the shelves and it bugged him and he confronted her about it and in the midst of the argument he called "organizing everything" white people shit.

She told the manager I'm not sure what happened I think he got a warning.

I see the bigger picture, double standards and all, but the female employee was very petty for reporting him over a jab that simple. Not like he said she smelt like wet dog or something.
