DC Entertainment's Rebirth is almost upon us, and after the big reveal at WonderCon, the next chance for extensive details on the new crop of books is in June's free Previews Catalog. The June edition of the comic standby features loads of new information on DC's new Rebirth books, along with the upcoming Vertigo books and DC Collectibles . The physical edition will also include a peek behind the scenes of the big event, including a foreword/introduction from Chief Creative Officer and fan-favorite writer Geoff Johns. The June edition of Previews launches on April 13th.
So anyone hyped for this latest event/stunt? :smt015 Can both DC & Marvel just go back to telling good stories with their characters? SMH.
I finally saw Deadpool yesterday. I had a blast. It's right up there with Blade 2 with the graphic violence. And in a class by itself in nudity and sexual scenes.
I'm going to give Rebirth a shot; nonetheless, DC is truly trying my patience with yet another relaunch so soon after the New 52.
Exactly, This kind of stuff is why I have stopped collecting monthly comics. I only buy/read graphic novels now.
Having too many monthlies on my list was killing my budget. I only get Kanan and Baltimore as monthlies. Nearly everything else I pick up as a trade paperback.
Kevin Feige Confirms Other AVENGERS Will Appear In Upcoming SPIDER-MAN Reboot After presumably saving Iron Man's backside in the Armored Avenger's ill-advised crusade against Captain America, it sounds like Tony Stark or one of Spidey's other new friends will almost definiely be repaying the favor in his first solo adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios' head honcho Kevin Feige shared the following tidbit: "He is in the universe now, and the fun of the universe is that characters go back and forth." He doesn't elaborate further, but it's safe to say Chris Evans' Steve Rogers and/or Robert Downey Jr.'s Tony Stark are the two most likely candidates to pop up in the upcoming Jon Watts-directed film, that is if they first make it out of Captain America: Civil War alive. Outside of those two, it's anyone's guess. Over the past eight years, Marvel has built a vast cinematic universe with a plethora of rich and likable characters, so it could be one or a combination of any of the following: Black Widow, Hawkeye, Winter Soldier, Black Panther, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man, Vision, War Machine, Agent Peggy Carter, Nick Fury, Maria Hill, Sharon Carter, Hank Pym, Wasp, Doctor Strange, Daredevil, Punisher, Elektra, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and/or Mockingbird. However, with Thor: Ragnarok kicking off production in Australia around the same time as Spider-Man, it's highly unlikely we'll see either Chris Hemsworth's Thor or Mark Ruffalo's Hulk. That character roster doesn't even begin to take into account Spidey's huge line of allies and rogues. If handled properly, fans could be in for quite a treat come next July. Tom Holland will lead the film, starring as Peter Parker, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man. The rest of the cast is still a work-in-progress, but Academy Award-winner Marisa Tomei has been confirmed as Aunt May and up-and-comer Zendaya will be playing a mysterious character named Michelle. It hits theaters July 7, 2017.

Warner Brothers Confirms Ben Affleck to Direct Standalone Batman Movie. A standalone Batman movie starring and directed by Ben Affleck is officially in the works, Warner Bros. chief Kevin Tsujihara confirmed Tuesday at CinemaCon. It was reported in July 2015 that Affleck was in talks to star and direct, but Tuesday’s announcement marks the first official confirmation of his involvement. Affleck made his debut as the Caped Crusader in “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which bowed March 25. Tsujihara first mentioned Affleck when he took the CinemaCon stage in Las Vegas, saying that the studio was excited to be moving forward on the standalone Batman film with the actor and filmmaker. Tsujihara said the studio has committed to 10 DC films — most of which have already been announced — within the next five years, then named every movie along with their director, including Batman with Affleck. Warner Bros. confirmed that Affleck would be directing the movie later on Tuesday in a press release. Affleck took the stage later, along with his “Batman v Superman” co-star Amy Adams. He did not, however, go into further details on the standalone Batman movie. Despite its massive $166.1 million opening weekend — the seventh-biggest of all time — the box office receipts for “Batman v Superman” look like something of a disappointment for Warners. It’s doubtful that the movie will reach the coveted $1 billion worldwide mark. Warner Bros. had already planned a sprawling slate of movies in the DC universe through 2020, with “Suicide Squad” on deck. Also planned are “Wonder Woman”; “Justice League” Part One and Two, which will see Affleck reprise his role; “Aquaman”; “Cyborg”; and “The Flash.”
Ben Affleck has NO juice onscreen and I don't know why he keeps getting these A-list roles. His Daredevil was weak. IMO his Batman portrayal lacked heft and menace. He's just not a big enough actor for these roles IMO.
Don't look now, but Marvel just dropped the new trailer for Doctor Strange.
+1000. Dr. Strange was always one of Marvel's more obscure but stronger characters/heroes. But his backstory and adventures were so steeped in Eastern religions, mysticism and philosophy that IMO it was hard for Dr. Strange to cross over into a really popular character. He didn't whup ass. He cast spells. Then when Harry Potter came on the scene and the Dark Knight series ripped off many of Dr. Strange's totems, I thought there was NO WAY this movie gets made. People had already seen it. I don't know how it will do at the box office, but based on the preview it looks like they nailed it.
I don't know. Affleck's Batman was probably more menacing than Christian Bale's Batman, imho. And he played George Reeves, who played Superman in the film Hollywoodland with Diane Lane.
There was a Doctor Strange television movie in 1979. It starred Peter Hooten as Steven Strange. It wasn't bad. Some parts looked a bit scary. I'm sure it will be out on DVD when the new film comes out.
