This is exactly the point that several of us women were trying to make in the thread where the guy watched his woman being put into a chokehold by another man and he hid and called 911. If a person will do this for a stranger, how much moreso would he/she do it for a loved one? And, in this case, this young man is only 15!! He is being raised right.
Word? What about the idiot who died saving that girl. How's his family suppose to cope with that. Do you think his mother is proud and happy that her child is dead?
*picturing TDK nekked to control my rage* Dude, get your head out of your ass. I could explain my position a hundred different ways and you'd still be asking "Do you think his mom is proud that he's dead? Do you think she'd prefer he was alive?". That is such bullshit. OF COURSE his mother would prefer him to be alive, but there's no doubt she's incredibly proud of his actions and the fact that a baby girl is alive BECAUSE OF HIM. I don't count that man as an "idiot" in the least. He died a hero. His gut reaction was to save that baby...not to worry about his own safety. As a mother, I could hold my head high if my child did that. When you have children, I might take your opinion on this with more than just a grain of salt. I'd like to see if you choose to raise your kids with character and empathy for others, or if you raise them to run and hide at any chance of danger just to save themselves.
The world (and likely his mother) all see him as a hero. And you call him an idiot?? If that had been my son, yes I would be devastated by his death. But I would also be comforted that his actions saved the lives of not one, but two, others. He died helping others, and I can't think of anything nobler.
The thought that such terrible people exist in this world drives me insane sometimes... but then I see that brave heroes like these teens also exist and it's comforting to know. I'm glad that little girl is safe now, I'm sure she won't leave her mother's sight til she like 20 now.
Update: http://abc27.com/2016/02/04/teen-hero-wanted-for-armed-robbery/ LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) – A teenager who helped to save a 5-year-old girl from her abductor more than two years ago is now a suspect in an armed robbery. Temar S. Boggs, 18, is wanted for the robbery of the El Coqui Market in the 600 block of North Plum Street on Dec. 17, police said. Police Sgt. Bill Hickey told ABC27 News their suspect is the same Tamar Boggs who, as a 15-year-old, helped a girl get away from her kidnapper in July 2013. According to previous reports, Boggs and Chris Garcia spotted the girl in a car about two hours after she was taken from the yard of a Lancaster Township home and gave chase on their bicycles. “If he wasn’t gonna stop, I was probably gonna jump in the middle of the car,” Boggs told ABC27 in 2013. “As soon as the guy started noticing that we were chasing him, he stopped at the end of the hill and let her out, and she ran to me and said that she needed her mom.” The story of the girl’s rescue gained national attention. Congressman Joe Pitts (R-Pennsylvania) praised Boggs and Garcia on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives, and a New York woman was so moved by their heroism that she set up a scholarship fund for the teens. The girl’s abductor, convicted sex offender Harold Leroy Herr, pleaded guilty to kidnapping and sexually assaulting the girl in August 2013. He is serving a prison sentence of 50 to 100 years. As for Boggs, investigators believe he fled Lancaster before they identified him as the gunman in the robbery. He’s charged with first-degree felony counts of robbery and criminal conspiracy to commit robbery. Lancaster Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to his arrest. A co-defendant, 16-year-old Lamel Yelverton, is charged as an adult. He is in the Lancaster County Prison on $75,000 bail.
The robbery happened just a few blocks from my house. And the convenience store across the street from my office was just robbed and detectives foiled another attempt last Friday night after using our parking lot for surveillance. I can't move south fast enough.
