It's official that we have another free day off. The feds made their announcement around 10:00 PM, and my employer followed soon after with the same.

Enjoy the time off. Hopefully the snow days don't delay any key projects.

I hate this damn "No saving parking spots" policy. Met the nastiest woman on the block last night. She parked in the spot my son cleared for his truck. She shoveled nothing and neither did her husband. So my son shoveled another spot and put some of the snow in front of her car so she, too, could enjoy the experience. When she saw him do it, she started screaming profanities at him. When I came out to see what was going on and told her to go back in her house she screamed "You probably f*ck this bitch ass ni**a!" I'm (and she was) lucky I was standing on my porch and not in front of her. I'm not a violent person but she would've been on her fat behind in the nearest snowbank and I'd have spent the night in jail.

    I hate snow.

Yeah... Drives me crazy that everyone is turning into monsters over their parking spots and having to save them. I'll be damned if someone takes my spot when they didn't put in the work of digging one out and then take mine. I have to find something to hold my spot so I can go to work tomorrow... It's frustrating. Who's to say that someone won't pick that up and move it in order to park their car?

I love how your son handled it :)

I prob would be in jail

Thanks. I sure will. Luckily, I don't have too much that's pressing, but I've already handled one issue remotely.

Yeah, that is crazy. I don't know why folks have such a sense of entitlement, but most importantly... I'm glad you didn't have to go to jail.

Yes, Ches' son handled that situation in an awesome way. Thankfully, my development actually has a lot more parking than demand, so we really don't have much of an issue for long. The snow removal crews have simply been clearing the spaces that usually don't get used. Those are the least convenient spaces when things are normal, so it genrally works out. Admittedly, I did have to look a bit for a spot last night, then chose to stay in rather than chance it again. I imagine they'll get a lot more spaces cleared today.

Assigned parking is the only way to go lol

I'd be all for that. As long as mine is in front of my house. Lol.

Glad you all are safe! Oh and that no one went to jail!!

Thanks for posting the pictures and talking about it all. It's really something to see. It's amazing how different things are in different areas. I was listening to something where someone was talking about how they were shoveling snow wrong. I realized - I didn't even know you could shovel it wrong!!

I really hate how hot it can get here, but I don't know that I could deal with all that cold stuff.

Agreed. Especially for those places where there's not enough parking. I'm glad we don't have that issue where I live.

I wonder if they're referring to lifting the shovel with snow on it. I know a lot of people tend to hurt their backs because they're bending over then lifting with their back. Many also fail to realize that wet/moist snow is a lot heavier than the dry powdery snow. Then you have the snow shoveling related heart attack victims who simply overdo it and/or try to shovel too quickly. I'm in somewhat decent physical shape, and I still paused for a quick min while shoveling snow.

I've always lived in the northeast, and from the first time I visited the west coast... I've loved California, especially SoCal and the Bay area. I'm seriously considering changing coasts.

A 64 year old woman was found dead in a snow drift in NJ, clutching a snow shovel.:(

Sadly at least 2 people here collapsed and suffered fatal heart attacks while shoveling snow. Another victim who had collapsed was lucky. He was spotted by a police officer in a passing cruiser. The police officer performed CPR, until an ambulance arrived.

Just awful.:( We continue to see deaths in PA (eight)..the shovelling out was worse than the storm itself.
