Hey Cherok, great photo! Awful forecast We are fully charged in this house. We are shovelling every 2 hours till bed time.
*Ahem* Why isn't your butt in Philly suffering along with the rest of us. Girl, you dodged a big one! Lucky you.
Snow started here last night around 7. These photos were taken at 9:30 this morning and the snow is to continue until daybreak tomorrow. :smt087 One way to beat the snow: My car in the foreground, my son's truck and car and his gf's car in the background: My son, after 45 mins of shoveling. Lol: The mayor declared a ban on driving in the city. We already have between 12"-18." Three feet total expected by tomorrow. To my fellow snowbound forum folks be safe.
Oooh, great snow pics ...I have a couple to upload too. I just saw on our news that 500 vehicles are stuck on the PA turnpike since 7pm yesterday, and haven't moved an inch. The National Guard were called in to bring supplies for the stranded motorists. Really appreciating being home right now.
Lovely photo C33. Keep warm up in Md. Down in NC it is cold and power was out for 2 and a half hours where I lived.
I remember being caught in a couple of blizzards back in the 80's. They came suddenly and heavy. I remember seeing people walking in the middle of the streets. Snow plows pushed mounds the size of small houses. Sometimes the water pipes were frozen solid and I had to go outside and scoop up some snow and put it on the stove top to melt it . I miss winters in New Jersey.
Ha. No kidding! Did you catch this? Just a lil humor.. Ps: That's for the down Southers, lol (Southerners)
Well... We survived, and thankfully, I didn't lose power. Today, I dug out one of my cars. The other remains buried
I can't say I blame you. Many people stayed home which made for a light rush hour commute. By 12:00 everyone in my office suite were shutting down and getting to their cars as quickly as possible. Turns out we're closed tomorrow, as I expected. We tend to do whatever OPM does. Adorable!
Just a cautionary reminder, though lm sure you're aware while others may not be.. Many People warm up their car while they're digging out.. And sometimes will sit in their car to get warm... I wasn't aware of this possibly being dangerous (done it many time), until I read a story last winter of a father who was digging out his car with his young son... While his car was covered in snow, he put his son in the car to stay warm... When he checked on him, he was dead from carbon monoxide poisoning.. The tailpipe was covered in snow while the father worked to dig the car out. I imagine this is not an isolated case as you seen with the story linkd below ...a young Jersey mother and her son died yesterday, and a PA man died under similar scenarios.. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/wires/ap/article-3414414/At-20-killed-snowstorm-related-deaths.html
Thanks for the heads up. Yes, I am aware of the dangers of carbon monoxide. I have seen warning over the years reminding people to ensure that their tailpipes aren't blocked. I didn't have anyone in my car while clearing the snow, but since I had the engine running (to use the defroster)... I did move up about a foot, and I had the windows partially open to prevent fumes from backing up into the car.
