That's awful. Dude was a legend. One of my musical heroes. Iman must be devastated. They were married for ever. And, he didn't seem to age very much at all. I didn't even know he was ill. Dude was a true artist and was always looking for new ways to create. Never rested on his laurels. R.I.P. David Bowie
What a sad loss. He was truly iconic. Such a big part of my musical teen years in the 80's when l was able to appreciate his talent and androgyny. I just read also that his recent album released a few days ago went to #1 and #2 on the U.S and U.K Album Charts. Wow if so. I didn't even know about it. My favorite songs of his to this day are Fame, Golden Years and Let's Dance... And of course "Heroes" and his timeless masterpiece that l still get lost in whenever l hear it..the epic "Space Oddity". Thanks for the music, Bowie. ..
Tributes are coming from all over the world. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3393470/David-Bowie-dies-18-month-battle-cancer.html How strange that Angie Bowie is currently secluded on Big Brother, during the very time her ex-husband dies....and thus hasn't been told yet ( but will be). The impact on her will be intensified, no doubt.
Heard it on the Radio this morning, I was quite upset by this bit of news today. I love most of his Music and among my favorites are Under Pressure that he did with Queen and Ashes to Ashes. And off course Labyrinth a big film of my childhood has to be the coolest bad guy ever as Jareth aka "the Goblin King" Rest in Peace
He was a genre-defying artist of the highest order. I can't believe he's gone, but he left with his creative powers still strong, still intact.
Damn. God Bless the Thin White Duke. Really became a huge fan of Bowie in my late teens and can't believe he's gone. Seeing this cat perform on Soul Train and helping to discover Luther Vandross on Young Americans, made him cross over in a way that few Brit rockers ever have. Miss him a lot, can't believe he's actually no longer here.
I remember seeing him on television doing that classic duet with Bing Crosby. I remember being frozen in the chair. I was so moved by that performance. Then I became a fan when I heard the song Fame(John Lennon produced the song). My all-time favorite songs were Changes, Modern Love, Blue Jean, Let's Dance, China Girl, Suffragette City, The Loneliest Man In The World, Heroes and The Theme To Cat People. He was a serious musician. He played guitar, piano and saxophone. And he was a very good actor. He was a true legend and I'll miss him like every fan on this planet. Thank you, David. May you Rest In Peace. God Bless.
so sad...playing his greatest hits while I am working today...let's dance and under pressure were two of my favorites...RIP:heart:
And he was a real dude, too. He put MTV on blast back in their early days. I was in my early teens and was like, "Wow!! Bowie is down!!!"
A great artist who died so soon but, made sure to entertain before making his exit. A private person whom a few knew he was that sick.
I remember hearing Fame for the first time, with John Lennon on the guitar - blew me away. Made me dig deeper into this dude; he was something else. I recall his short but powerful role in the movie The Prestige as one of my favorite people, Nikola Tesla. I really liked this guy. RIP David Bowie.
Such a cool tribute gif. It is being said by those close to him that his Blackstar album he just released was his goodbye album to his fans.
bm meeting ww halfway for once on this forum. lol. there's another half ... take a sip of another culture. Enjoy
I remember David Bowie in the films The Hunger(he played Catherine Deneuve's vampire lover and hunting partner but loses out to Susan Sarandon), Absolute Beginners as an ambiguous motivator, Labyrinth as The Goblin King, The Prestige, as Nikola Tesla(I couldn't recognize him with all the makeup) and his dual performance in Jazzin' For Blue Jean where he played rock star Screaming Lord Byron and the nerdy Vic. It was an extended music video for the song Blue Jean.
