    Is America a war zone??

    I know that Syria is.

If you don't live in a war zone in the midst of a state wide civil war, you probably don't need military grade weapons.

Most of our allies seem to be making it fine without making assault weapons readily available for civilian purchase.

As for Patricia Smith, she should be blaming deceased Ambassador Christopher Stevens who advocated putting a consulate in Libya after the fall of the Gaddafi regime.

Next she should blame a Republican led Congress who denied the State Department's request for more security.

An attack on an embassy is not the same as volunteering for the military and being lied into a war by the President of the United States.

What illegitimate war did Obama start?

That's why Bush is called a war criminal, because his administration lied us into a war the led to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians.

Conservatives really shouldn't be using terms like 'logic' if they don't know what they mean.

Obama has steadily been releasing detainees from Gitmo and sending prisoners back to their country of origin.

Obama has been trying to close Gitmo for almost 8 years and Congress has blocked him at every turn.

BTW, Obama has gotten much heat for his drone program from the left and the right. No one gave him a pass on that.

Didn't he have a Democratically controlled Congress for two? Why didn't he shut down Gitmo then?

And Syria could certainly be classified as illegitemate..it all depends on who is talking and who controls the media, yeah?

8: Assad never used chemical weapons on his own people

A U.N. investigation into the first major chemical weapons attack committed in early 2013 — an atrocity the West immediately pinned on Assad — concluded the evidence suggested the attack was more likely committed by the Syrian opposition. A subsequent U.N. investigation into the August 2013 attack never laid blame on anyone, including Assad’s forces. In December 2013, Pulitzer prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh released an article highlighting deficiencies in the way the situation was handled:

“In the months before the attack, the American intelligence agencies produced a series of highly classified reports…citing evidence that the al-Nusra Front, a jihadi group affiliated with al-Qaida, had mastered the mechanics of creating sarin and was capable of manufacturing it in quantity. When the attack occurred al-Nusra should have been a suspect, but the administration cherry-picked intelligence to justify a strike against Assad.”

Here is some more on the questionable US led/NATO conflict with Syria...motivators?

"Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia wanted to build a pipeline through Syria, but Assad rejected it

In 2009, Qatar proposed a pipeline to run through Syria and Turkey to export Saudi gas. Assad rejected the proposal and instead formed an agreement with Iran and Iraq to construct a pipeline to the European market that would cut Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar out of the route entirely. Since, Turkey, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have been staunch backers of the opposition seeking to topple Assad. Collectively, they have invested billions of dollars, lent weapons, encouraged the spread of fanatical ideology, and helped smuggle fighters across their borders.

The Iran-Iraq pipeline will strengthen Iranian influence in the region and undermine their rival, Saudi Arabia — the other main OPEC producer. Given the ability to transport gas to Europe without going through Washington’s allies, Iran will hold the upper-hand and will be able to negotiate agreements that exclude the U.S. dollar completely."

So AB..when does the US ever "legitimately" attack when it doesn't serve its own interests?

Bliss, Assad is a dictator and not the democratically elected leader of Syria.

Whatever the reasons, factions inside Syria decided to try to overthrow him.

We didn't send troops to Syria. We had very limited NATO bombing in Syria.
The U.S. military footprint inside Syria is extremely small and goes no further than providing arms to Syrian rebels.

We didn't attack Syria. We didn't start a war with Syria.

There really no comparison to our misbegotten war in Iraq.

Regardless of the POTUS, both parties represented in Congress have a responsibility to lead.
That means ultimately making decisions that are in the best interest of the country, NOT your party.

So far during Obama's presidency, the GOP has found doing their job in the Senate and House extremely difficult to do.

I really hate the argument that since Obama had a supermajority his first two years in office, why didn't he get everything under the sun he wanted passed in that 24 month window??

Maybe because he believed he wouldn't be dealing with the most obstructionist Congress in U.S. history for the next six years.

Take the Zika virus for instance spreading in the Southern part of the U.S.
Obama requested $1.9 billion in health funding to fight Zika, but the Senate will only authorize $1.1 billion in spending and the House about half of that.

Meanwhile Florida no longer has the financial resources to combat Zika without federal assistance.

We're talking about roughly $2 billion dollars, basically an accounting error for a federal spending program.

But the GOP led Congress is suddenly pinching pennies because of partisanship and their hatred of Obama.

This Congress is beyond dysfunctional. It's unwillingness to do its elected job is borderline criminal.

When a year from now we see the dozens of babies afflicted with exposure to the Zika virus in utero, ask yourself whose fault is that??

As for the gas attacks in Syria, only you, Russia and Assad are blaming the Syrian rebels for using chemical weapons against their own supporters.

The U.S., EU and Arab League have all determined both sarin attacks in Ghouta and Khan-al-Assal were weapons grade and appear to have come from the Syrian chemical weapons stockpile.

Further evidence the Syrian government was behind the attack was the delivery system, surface to air rockets.

If I could rep you anymore, I would.

Let me add that Obama's so called, "super majority" was never really that. He had to deal with D.I.N.O.s (Democrats In Name Only). They, for the most part, are conservatives. They have to be otherwise they'd never get elected in their respective right wing districts. Look up Bluedog Democrats. That's what he had to deal with.

He never had both houses with liberal majorities. Democratic representatives tend to think for themselves rather thsn tow the party line. I've heard it said that getting Democrats to fall in line is like hearding cats. What happened with his mythic super majority underscores that.

You do realize there are a lot of liberals angry at Obama for Gitmo. You're projecting a false equivalency.
