So much uglyness there. Katie and Jamie seem to have been together for quite some time, Why not give people who actually look like they are in it for the long run the courtesy of respecting their relationship?

 

Romantic celebrity relationships are like sports teams. Everyone outside of it are going to be involved in some way because they live their lives vicariously through celebrities. Everyone has a wish, idea and or suggestion as to how life (including romance) should be. Everyone has the belief that the celebrity is one of them or ARE them. Any deviation or alteration is a hard pill to swallow for that dedicated fan. The classic anime Perfect Blue is a good example because it was said that it was based on the incident with an obsessed fan of the singer Bjork. The fan lived in Miami and resented that Bjork was engaged to a black man. He sent an acid bomb to her in the hope to kill her because if he couldn't have her, no one will. He planned to kill himself to join her in the afterlife. He videotaped his suicide(he put a gun barrel into his mouth, rapidly counted down and squeezed the trigger. The acid bomb was intercepted.

In the case of Jaime and Katie, a five year wait to go public about their relationship may have been worth it. The insecurity of these people stems to the fact that they don't know the celebrity as well as they thought.
