o_0? I thought I was just implying that there's no fast food places and I need them to survive. Guess I was also implying to something else I didn't even know, mind blown!
I don't think he is doing that. There are millions of poor people everywhere, but the world and mostly the West likes to focus on those "poor dumb Africans" who can't take care of themselves without outside intervention. Constantly focusing on the suffering is mimimalizing the successes of Africa, and is mimimalizing the suffering of those in other places where abject poverty goes underreported. Places where there is no need for anyone to feel superior to those who live there.
Just look at how amazing the scenery is! Which part of the Motherland is it? Looks like Nigeria to me. And LOOK! I see the African Triforce!
The worse misconception is not that Africa is without infrastructure, or that Africans are not capable of building it, the worst misconception is that those without it are always POOR. Yes, Africa is more modern than some would believe but just because some indigenous people in Africa or elsewhere don't have 20 story buildings, electricity, or running water doesn't mean they are poor. For centuries, people lived a subsistence/ agricultural based lifestyle. Modernity and greed has displaced many of these cultures, leaving them in disarray creating poor subjects; there is nothing inherently poor about these cultures or lifestyles. Giving aid, in many respects is just Western society continually imposing/ manipulating these cultures. Does every person on this planet need a car, computers, and a two story house? Is that true wealth?
