I can't comment on what it's like for African American students as I have no experience in US schools. I'm not doubting that discrimination exists and I think it's abhorrent. Schools should be doing everything they can to support each and every one of their students.

It also blows my mind that American schools are even able to hire unqualified teachers. In Australia we have rigorous teacher registration and standards that must be met in order to be employed in the education system.

In fact, the teaching profession as a whole seems to be entirely undervalued in America. If teachers were paid decent salaries, perhaps more intelligent, driven, well-rounded people would be enticed to enter the profession. Seems to be a real second rate job over there.. so if no one cares about teachers, what motivation do teachers have to care about the job they're doing? Just an idea...

Dude I just re-read that thread and I will admit it got way nastier than it needed to be but the name calling started when your wife called me "bitch boy". I escalated by calling her a cunt and saying that she gargaled black babies but her final retort was against my parents. You can feel however you want about me but anyone can agree the minute you bring someone's family into it, it becomes extra ugly. Not to mention she openly threatened me with "I know people and my husband knows people" remark. I didn't get upset about it but that shit is illegal just putting that out there.
